Hey guys. I recently picked up this really old Jackson from a local. It's in very good shape and has seen little play time. Serial number is 4276. Can anyone help me figure out what year this was made and if it was built in the custom shop? Thanks!
I'm not any help on the year and if it were a custom shop or not. I'd love to find something like that local to me one of these days. I'd say you are going to be asked for more pictures including the back of the guitar, and the neck pocket writing. Very nice Jackson!
Cool guitar. Gotta love a maple fingerboard and reverse headstock with a nice graphic. As Razor said, check the neck pocket for writing and possible date.
Thanks for the replys guys. I really dig the guitar. I was on the hunt for an RR1 but saw this at a rediculosly low price and couldn't pass it up. I'd love to find a cobalt blue rr1 to trade it for.
Thanks for posting that up. I'm trying to collect as much information as I can on it. Can't believe the guy I bought this from paid $2100 for it. I paid him $600!!!
Thanks guys! Hey can anybody tell me for sure if I can drop an original Floyd in this using the existing studs from the jt6? I find that jackson tremelo very difficult to play on for an extended period of time..
The Floyd will work fine with the existing JT-6 locking nut and studs and stud inserts. If you must change the studs, be prepared to dowel the holes after removing the studs, and drill new holes for the new inserts. Why? The JT-6 stud inserts are larger in diameter compared to newer Floyd types. This is why it is not worth the hassle, in my opinion. I wouldn't change the locking nut either, unless it's ruined.
