  • Usa sl1 help

Just bought this Jackson USA soloist guitar for 1200.00 at Sam Ash. The guy did not really know when the guitar was made etc. I would like to know if someone has any info or insight based on the images and The serial is 060249. I am sort of familiar with these guitars but the serial number got me a bit curious and so did the top pickups. I just want to make sure this is a legit USA SL1 Model and would like to know when it was built etc. Please see the images, And Thanks for your help...

That serial is not from a USA made Jackson. No J or U prefix and too many digits..
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

A made in USA SL1 in trans colour would give a neck binding, ebony fingerboard, m.o.p. inlay logo and chrome hardware...

This one seems a japanese Soloist SL3 with a fake writing on the headstock.

Do you have the tags that comes with the guitar when it's new?

I see the photos, if I click on the links that xenophobe quoted.

It does highly resemble an SL3 with "Made in USA" on the headstock which could be a decal or sticker added by someone who owned that guitar.

The tremolo is likely a 1000 Series Floyd Rose (Made in Korea) that Mudlark claims to have been introduced on SL3s starting in 2006, along with black hardware and real Seymour Duncan pickups (as opposed to Takeuchi JT580LP tremolo, chrome hardware, and Duncan Designed pickups).

Yup, that's a Japanese one, but not totally sure what. As NOTP says, SL3 seems like a good bet.

2006 Japanese serial on what appears to be an SL3.
                96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Maybe it once looked like this?

Yeah, they came with chrome hardware and a JT580LP tremolo before 2006.

As called out by other community members a number of issues with the guitar make me pretty sure that the guitar is not what it seems. The serial number is a huge consideration. USA neck through Jackson serial numbers are prefixed with ‘U’ or ‘J’ and only have 4 or 5 numeric digits while import Jackson serial numbers will have 6-10 numeric digits

What type of tremolo does it have? Does it say “Floyd Rose” on the base plate or is it a licensed Floyd?

Not sure what the deal is with Sam Ashe. Recently saw an obvious fake USA Jackson at the store here in Tampa.

Good news: You are still well within the window for a return!

                        Additional info for everyone.

Here are some other images... and to everyone thank you. I sincerely appreciate all of you guys taking your time looking into this. The Floyd rose I did take apart and set the guitar up, the Floyd rose seems to be legit. However the head stock, if there is a sticker, I can not tell, if there is it is under the clear coat so makes it difficult for me to tell. Although to me the coating looks strange and my other sl2h guitar never had these types of nicks in the clear coat on the head stock. I hope you can see in the images. I also emailed Jackson with no reply as of yet.

                          Yeah, that's a Japanese SL3.

If someone put a German Floyd on it, it'd say Made in Germany on it somewhere.

Could be someone put the M.I.USA on the headstock and sprayed a coat of clear over it.
