  • SL1 later model with 1/4 flame maple or venner maple?

Just wondering on the alder version of SL1 if the maple top is merely venner or 1/3 ?

    I think it's 1/8"
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Yeah, pretty sure it's 1/8" veneer.

OK, I admit to being in a piss poor mood today...

        veneer is 1/42" or so...

anything thicker should be termed as a laminate...

I'd agree it should be called laminate.

At what point does a "laminate" become a "cap"?

Technically, two or more layers of ANYTHING of ANY THICKNESS can be considered "laminated". Tomato, tomato... tremolo, vibrato...

I'd think a solid 1/4" or more would be considered a cap, but I guess tomatoe, tomato.

I still remember owning my first Jackson transblack and was a 2001 model or 2002... is a regular sl2h alder body and it has a venner maple on it... and from what i know venner is very thin sheet paper like slice that glue on the guitar body just different from my sl2h mah i got and it has a certain thickness to it maybe its a 1/8" or 1/4" i guess it glued on and contributed in tonality ?

Just curious if jackson now has 1/8" on their alder bodied soloist...

I don't think it's going to do anything tonally until it's more than 1/4".
