Need Info ASAP - Silver Crackle Soloists?

Hello! I am looking at potentially purchasing an '88 silver crackle soloist that was made in the USA. The seller says that the serial number is 6975, but the number doesn't align anywhere with J/C's numbering for that year. The listing can be found on Reverb. Anyone have info on this run of crackles, or on custom instruments from that year?

I haven't seen the ad, but are we sure the guitar is a Soloist and not a Dinky? In other words, a neck thru body and not a bolt on?

That serial would line up for '88 if a bolt on.

Thanks for the reply fellas. The buyer confused the serial number w/ a US bolt on he had. As for me, I decided to hold off for now.

actually that serial does match up to an 88 dinky...h's dropped his price on cl to 1000 obo...make him an offer as no-one seems to want it at that price (assuming we're talking about the guitar with the chewed on headstock lol)...i have an 89 dinky 24 and its a stellar guitar...d.m.
