I was contacted and asked to trade my ESP viper for a USA Jackson King V. The owner says its a 1992 custom shop. I'm not sure about it. The control layout seems odd. Any advise?

Ask for the serial number, if it starts with J it definitely is a CS guitar. It looks like 2 of the pots were added after the guitar was made, the 3 in-line pots and switch matches the pattern used in current models like soloists and kellys.
