Man, I thought you already HAD the guitar, haha. Nice to see it arrived safe and sound! Was the previous owner left-handed? That would likely explain the strings strung in the opposite order and the hole for the strap pin on the other wing, allowing him to play the guitar "upside down" for us but in the "correct" orientation for him.
Bubble-wrapping the guitar inside the case greatly reduces shifting of the guitar in the case during shipping, even in seemingly form-fitting cases like this one.Last edited by Number Of The Priest; 07-19-2018, 04:34 PM.

Yeah I really like the bubble wrap idea.
Not sure who the previous owner was. I think this guitar changed hands in between the last one to actually play it and I. Pretty sure I bought it from a pawn shop or something of the sort.
Definitely gotta put strap locks on her. I ordered a set of SD blackouts this morning. Cleaned all the gunk off the fingerboard and conditioned it. Disassembled the Floyd and cleaned it. Ordered an upgraded brass block and waiting for it to come in the mail(probably early next week). Still lots of work left.Last edited by synapsistheory; 01-13-2019, 08:51 PM.

Originally posted by Number Of The Priest View PostGreat job cleaning that Floyd. Gun oil and a toothbrush? Did you let it soak before brushing? What's your procedure?
When I pull the floyd out I give it a good dry scrub with a soft-bristled toothbrush over a trash can to get all the accessible gunk/dust/dead skin off. Then I completely disassemble it(keeping the saddles in correct order) and let all the rusted screws soak in white vinegar. It's acidic so it eats rust off really really quick.
*Important to note* I DO NOT soak the saddles, tension plate, tremolo plate, tremolo shim, or the tremolo block.
When I cleaned that blue RR1's Floyd Rose a few weeks ago I soaked the screws for too long(about 3 hours) and it ate the finish off them. Razor suggested soaking the rusted parts in kroil for a day or so, but I personally like vinegar better because it's quicker.
While those are soaking I use a wet wipe or something similar to clean the saddles, tension plate, trem plate, trem block and trem shim. When I get done with those, the parts have soaked for long enough(30 minutes to an hour) and I pull them out piece by piece scrubbing each one with the toothbrush. Then I thoroughly check and dry everything and put it all back together.
While reassembling I put just a dab of gun oil on the threads of the saddle/intonation screws and the saddle block screws. When I'm done, it all looks shiny, sparkly, and ready to rock! Of course it needs to be intonated but if you pay attention to the saddle positions when you disassemble, you can get it pretty close when re-installing them(so long as it was setup correctly beforehand).Last edited by synapsistheory; 07-20-2018, 11:09 PM.
