  • Mid 90’s Rhoads question

Hey guys, I’m trying to remember what Jackson called a certain Rhoads guitar. I believe it was a 1995 model, USA series, it had different pickups in it (not sh4/sh2).

Does anyone remember the name of this model? I remember the Sam ash by me had one and it was a great guitar. Was going to start searching online for one but I’m not having any luck finding anything about that model online.

Thanks in in advance for any info

A mid-1990s Rhoads would likely be called a Rhoads Custom. If you look at the 1994-95 Jackson catalog on the Jackson website (https://www.jacksonguitars.com/suppo...hived-catalogs), page 10 of 15, you will notice the Rhoads Custom has Bill Lawrence pickups and JT590 tremolo. That's likely what you're trying to find.

In 1996, the Rhoads Custom was replaced by the RR1, and has remained unchanged to this day. It was equipped with our familiar Seymour Duncan pickups and Original Floyd Rose tremolo.

Yea that was it, thank you. The one with the bill lawrwnce pickups. So that was called the Rhoads Custom? I’ll look at that catalogue too, thanks again.

Ever played that one? Is it as good as I remember from my 15 year old self?

Wasn't there also the Players Choice Series (PCS Rhoads something like that) or did that come out later?

In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Indeed there was a PCS line 1992 to 1994 or something.

I got the 1993 catalog and ended up at the PCS version of Rhoads, King V and others.

By 1996 I ordered a original Rhoads and it arrived as RR2772 as later confirmation by RC who was the final tech prior to ship policy for order being custom shop only.

I do call RR2772 a Jackson Rhoads custom as it is build for me but 100% a PCS original Rhoads too.

If it was a bolt-on it could be the short lived RR-2.
