      Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

Jackson needs several things to get more attention.
      1.24frets RRV
      2.7string Select series guitars
3.More signature series guitars such as Kevin Bond's RRV
4.Offers minor spec change for no upcharge.Such as 1hum option or single neck pickup instead of a hum in the neck position,Hardware color choice.
5.More reissue of other models as select series.
      Such as Star.

No offense to anybody....I for one hope Jackson NEVER offers a 7 string USA model. Jackson ,at least to me, represents no bullshit Thrash Metal.<PERIOD

          Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

I love the re-introduction of some out-of-production body shapes, and just ordered one with a $5700 retail sticker. But, I hate the fact that Jackson DOUBLED the price of the cracked mirror finish...from $450 to $900. 15% my ass.

I'll reserve judgement until my few custom shops arrive to comment on the quality, but I'm assuming it will be on par with the best in the business.

            Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

            1. Quality is awesome on select series.

            2. European distribution and pricing sucks ass. One example, Rhoads case is 380 euros in Finland! WTF? How is it possible?. At the same time you can get same case for 250 from German dealer. Come on, fix **** like that or you are going to lose it to ESP/LTD IBANEZ.

            3. No visibility in european media, music magazines and endorsements.

            4. Bring some new models. That 24 fret Rhoads is what people want. Where is Fear Factory signature model?
(Is 24 fret rhoads best selling CS model?)

            5. Please throw couple of Jacksons to that poor Death Angel guy, he looks so sad playing LTD while Rob blasts his DA model.

            6. If you can't get A. Laiho to endorse, ask if Roope Latvala will. That way at least you get to see Jackson on the same stage.

            7. I don't mind 15% price increase because it is first one in three years, and hopefully some of that goes into salaries of the people working at Jackson.

to address the absence of usa jacksons in stores...i'm not entirely sure that's under fmic's control...the stores order what they want to sell...gc, for example, has a higher profit margin and quicker turnaround on the less expensive guitars...therefore that's what they order (at least here in atlanta)...d.m.

                      Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

OK, everbody quit capping on my Dinky's!!! I love them and really don't play any other Jackson. In fact I own a CSB and just ordered(before the price hike) a graveyard and a Snow White with black hardware. I don't want Dinky's to be Charvels because they won't make them left handed!

                      1. Great marketing campaign. Just saw Silonoz from Dimmu Borgir in the new Guitar Player magazine this month!

                      2. 15 percent price increase is crap! This is one of the reasons we don't buy ESP's.

                      3. Why is it that for me to get a left handed strathead with a Floyd I have to spend 3000.00 at the FENDER! custom shop!!!! That is a load of Horse manure right there.

                      4. Parts availibility. I had to get a new finger for my Floyd on one of my Jacksons and my shop waited for a month for it to come in...and it didn't! We ended up going to All-Parts and it shippped within 2 days.

                      5. The new left handed upchardge! That left me with a swell feeling for the parent company on that one!

Overall grade C- and the only reason I didn't give you guys a D is because of the marketing campaign.

I second that notion of not seeing enough usa's in stores, the guitar center here in VA only has one that i saw.

                          Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

My Charvel was custom ordered in the pre-Fender era, and built in the Fender era, still in the Ontario custom shop. The craftsmanship is excellent in every detail, the playability is dreamlike, the tone quality of the woods is mind-blowing, and the guitar sounds fantastic. Every wish I had was fulfilled. My wait time was 14 months. It's great to read that they want to reduce the custom order turnaround times down to 3 - 6 months.

I love to see not what I have always been waiting for, and not happened in the AMIC era: the return of the real Charvels!

What I would like to see is Stratheads as an option for custom order Charvels or even production model Charvels.

I also hope a new Charvel catalog will be released soon.

                            - Allowing only a limited number of custom strathead orders each year, at a premium. 75 or 100?

                            I also had this idea.
What will happen, when the number for one year is sold out? A waiting list for the next year or one of the years after next year?

                            [ QUOTE ]

                            - Do a limited edition like the others, but allow some options to be selected for upcharges. Only a few options. I'm thinking like Floyd vs. vintage trem, HH vs. HSS, and three or four finishes (at least one solid and one transparent).

Again, though. They're doing a great job building on the respective brands' history and models.

                                Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

I am very satisfied with C/J since FMIC took over the reins. However, I have one observation that I would really like FMIC to invest in. Hopefully, someone there will read this and understand where I'm coming from....Right now, for most metal players, ESP tends to be the guitar of choice. There are a few Jacksons here and there but by and large, we don't have a lock on that market. For the pop-metal crowd, Schecters and PRS have control. I think that the powers that be should really put forth an organized push to put Jacksons in the hands of the higher profile artists, even if it means sticking Nickelback with them. Invest some money in actually giving some guitars to the players that you can bring into the Jackson fold. We all know that Jacksons are eons better than any Schecter and at least as good, if not better than any ESP. If you (C/J) can get your axes into the hands of the popular heavy musicians of today, sales of your import guituars will skyrocket, especially in the 11-20 year-old age group. Mommy and Daddy's money will be going to Jackson in buying these younger kids their first guitar so they can emulate the latest flavor of the week.
That would, of course, be a short term investment. For long term returns, I'd suggest a similar approach of giving endorsed artist their guitars. Yes, it costs money and I don't see anything wrong with picking and choosing who receives their axes free. The other endorsees could possibly get an employee rate. Regardless, Jackson really needs to make it known that they are great guitars for ANY type of music, not just metal. FMIC surely has the money to make a strong move in bringing C/J back to the forefront of heavier music.
When I play out, I bring usually 4 Jacksons with me and I make sure to pick different ones for each nite. That way, I get to have fun and every time someone looks at me play a lead, they see that pointy head, or pseudo-strathead, or real strathead. Last night, for instance, I used 3 C/Js and a Fender SRV. Gotta promote the product...
