Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

Regarding the visibility in stores - dealers won't order what they can't sell, and tire kickers don't buy. If you want to know what a USA Jackson is like, go play whatever import models are in your store, pick out everything you don't like about it (i.e. neck profile, action, hardware material/quality, pickup quality, etc etc) and imagine those things were all fixed - there's a USA Jackson.

I also disagree strongly with the price increase - you will not sell more of them by matching the prices of USA Gibsons and PRSs, because Jackson are still under the label of "them Hair Metal geetars", so "serious" players who want a PRS or Gibson are not going to buy a USA Jackson most of the time.
Who IS the typical USA Jackson buyer? Probably not a guy working on Wall Street drawing a 6-figure income.

Beef up the Professional Series - binding on the head and neck, USA pickups, Schallers instead of JT580s, 24 fret Rhoads, etc etc. Rosewood's fine but darker rosewood is more attractive to buyers. I'm not seeing as many ebony boards out in the "real world" - it's maple and rosewood, so go with that.
Seriously pursue high-profile artists and offer the new higher-quality Professional models as freebies to keep them.

For the Charvels, I'd just keep them as the Strat-bodies (full-size Strat shape with rounded edges) and Star bodies, 22 frets, 25 1/2" scale. Jackson would keep the DK-1 with 24 frets, and I'd look at bringing back the Fusion as well.

Nothing wrong with USA bolt-ons, so how about Warrior, King V, and Rhoads USA bolt-necks?
They cost less to make and are less expensive to buy, which means they'll sell more. The RR3 is still a strong seller, right?

Ok, going back to read the original post, Mike just wants to know how they're doing, not a wish list of what we want to see, so tell him to ignore everything we've posted except "great! can't wait to see what's ahead!"

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, and I don't know if FMIC has anything to do with it.. but it is almost impossible to get a Jackson here in the Netherlands.. even the imports (look at Svart's story, he's been waiting for his RR3 forever).. and the prices are ridiculous too, for example a DKMG for like 700+ euro..

Well... I think FMIC is doing a pretty good job so far...

The 15% price increase sucks for us buyers but I can understand it too. Think about the people working at Jackson/Charvel. Companies don't give raises to their employees if they aren't making more profit... At least I hope that's where some of this money is going. Although the timing kinda sucks. I would have waited till business gets better before raising prices...

I would like to see the availability of the Jackson Stars line here in the USA. I think that would be a big boost to sales. It doesn't seem like that would be difficult to do...

My overall grade to Jackson/FMIC would have to be a B+!

There may not be any extra money. A 15% price increase may well lead to fewer sales and could actually end up lowering the company's profit.

All they know is that the per unit revenue will be higher, not that revenue overall will be.

Actually that was might point. With raising prices now, it might actually hurt the company. If they had increased their market share first, it would have increased profits...

Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

I'd like international dealers. As far as the Jackson site could tell me - they are all in the USA. What about Europe and Asia? Europeans are more keen on the 80's music, IMO. Asians areven more.
Another thing is the Jackson website. There isn't much. Imagine someone who is just searching the internet to find a cool guitar. He goes to other sites and sees odes written to other guitars. He goes to the Jackson site and sees only pics. Is this the right way to advertise?
Also, I think that Fender should murder at least tree major heads of the MTV, so that they don't feed the youth with this surrogate crap. Hence, people would listen to more non-commercialised music. Yeah, and stop that MTV generalisation or whatever about long hair and "all those 80's" as those bitches say. HAHAHAHAHA!

It wouls be also cool if they could introduce European made Jackson and not allow them to be sold anywhere apart from Europe. This way, E-Jacksons will be as good as the USA Jacksons and will be speread in Europe.
I'd also include minor options to each model. C'mon, the guitars are handmade. What does it cost to change the type of a bridge pickup, for instance?
How about the hand-rubbed finish?

What should this be good for? Charvels and Jacksons are originally made in USA. The non-USA models don't compare with the USA models. Some of thne original Charvel/Jackson employees still work at the custom shop. European made Charvels and Jackson would neither have the same mojo as the USA models, nor would they cost less nor could they top the crafmanship of the USA nodels.
If I would have the choice between a USA made C/J and a European made C/J, I would take the USA.

Re: European made Charvel/Jacksons?

Well, this is because Jackson makes the non-USA models deliberately worse than the American-made models. Do you think that the Japanese or the Germans can't make Jacksons as good as the Americans? I don't. Jackson does not exist in Europe, so why don't we choose "the lesser of two evils"?
P.S. If I was to choose between USA and EU made models for the same price, I'd go for USA, because it's just USA. But this won't be the case, since USA JAcksons cost tons in Europe

So, you think that having an American passport makes you a superhuman or something? Maybe you should have lived in Germany 55 years ago.
Why European and Japanese cars are better than the American ones?

No offense to anybody....I for one hope Jackson NEVER offers a 7 string USA model. Jackson ,at least to me, represents no bullshit Thrash Metal.<PERIOD

Well, that's exaclty what Jackson does (a big part anyway)... how many Thrash Metal guitarists haven't played/doesn't play Jackson? I guess that you mean Nu-Metal, and I agree that there are other companies that can have the "pleasure" of representing that style of music. But I don't really care what kind of people that play Jackson. To each his own.. if it means that Jackson sell alot, then go ahead and play Jackson all Nu-Metalheads! Let Jackson stay in the business! JMO.
