Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

Let's get back to what this post is really about. I bought a USA in the last days of AMIC - it's flawless. I bought a USA custom this year - full of problems. Quality control continues to be a problem. As far as the campaign with Jenna - what's not to like ? The 15% increase blows. Yes, there's been no increase in several years but, damn, spread it out !! I think the idea of some minor options ( reverse head, color of hardware )on selects would be great.

Yep, the guitars are all handmade. Then why not include options like Carvin does? This would be the best thing to do.

Bring back serial # inquiries! I'm trying to restore an old '86 Jackson custom with a non-authentic neck... would love to know what to slap on it to bring it back to spec!

Other than that... regarding Jenna... um, all I can say is, YES! New models look sweet (though I confess I haven't had opportunity to play any yet). As others have noted, distribution channels & endorsees could be improved, but I suspect (and hope) that's being worked on. Keep up the good work.

Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

sorry i noticed this thread far too late, but here are my 2 cents

at first, congrats for the great work so far
bringing usa-charvels back on the map and putting the Jackson/Charvel Guitars in the spotlight again is a great
step so far
some points since now:
-that "bad boy" image marketing idea is cool
-getting back the old San Dimas adress is way cool
-jenna is cool
-the new Jackson/Charvel merch is cool
-chrome hardware on us models is uncool (looks cheap)
-the new neckjoint of oiled neck neckthrough guitars(warrior) is uncool
-let players go to ESP or Ibanez is uncool
-especially not to support alexi laiho is very uncool

so for the future i´d vote for:
-serial# inquiries for us to know the history of out babies
-a regular homepage edit
-a "custom shop creator" on the official Jackson and Charvel homepages
-no shaping limits for the custom shop(allow gibson shapes, especially the firebird)
-some simple specs to choose on the us-series guitars(rev head, black hardware, one hum, single vol)
-some more new signature series guitars
-a 24 fret rhoads
-kelly star (fastuca) as a us model
-more endorsers to bring the Jackson brand even more in the spotlight, regardles if their JacksonGuitar a miusa or mij, also "pro series endorsers" or "half the price endorsers" (like ESP does with their LTD-Endorsers)
greets
andy

1. The JS30RR is out now. Also, the USA RR24 will be out soon.

2. How many Fastars would sell? The Kellystar didn't sell well at all. Heck, I bet KE sales are down because of Friedman not in Megadeth anymore. Also, the Fastar is a large-scale guitar (size-wise), limiting its appeal even further. Only big dudes need apply:

I agree with most of your other comments though.

1. cool I only knew about the JS30RR
2. c´mon it´s not really bigger than a Rhoads,KV or a double Rhoads
and there are enough large people out there, esp. when you notice that todays children grow bigger than lets say 30 years ago

Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

I'll tell you what I hate. Their customer service. Their refusal to deal with warranty issues. The fact NO ONE will help you, no matter how much ass you kiss (I've tried to be very very very nice, doesn't do me any good). I don't like when customer service reps tell me, "we don't make money off of warranty work, we lose money on it. Don't be suprised if this takes a long time, if they even do anything about it." Granted the one I was having trouble with, was bought like a week before the *take over*, still, they need to honor the warranty. I did get A resolution to it however, but not satisfactory in my opinion.

On the other hand,

I like the new marketting (the porn theme is kind of tacked on, but hey, screw it, it's publicity).

I like the new inlays, new hardware configs, the new finishes. I don't know how much of this was in the works before, but I can tell you what, our local music store has 4 USA Jacksons in. Before Jackson (Rather Akai) wouldn't even look at them to sell them. They've sold quite a few, I've played most of them, and can tell you what. Whatever machining, anything final set uping they are doing, it's good.

Of the 4 they have currently, and several they've sold, it's been top notch quality all the way around. I did notice on the one, the ebony, had bright streaks on it, but that was that.

Quick synopsis,

Likes;
New marketting (minus pornstar part)
Faster times for delivery (so it would seem to me)
Finish options
the *new* models
new consistent quality
24 fret Rhoads

Dislikes
Customer service
MAP crap
15% increase...though when you think about it, it was long overdue, I mean USA, all fancy appointments, it's not cheap.

Now, I don't know too much about it, since I really don't give a damn, but it seems to (ME) that since Fender has taken over, people were skeptical at first, but now it seems it's been for the better in a GOOD way.

I've not ordered one, but I've heard custom shop times are down. The fact that 2 Fender Employees (I don't know if there's more, sorry if I missed you) come here and post on a semi-regular basis (though before don't forget, we did have people who worked for Jackson posting here).
I don't know how to put it into words, since I don't sit and watch every single thing manifest, I don't really have time to. I don't know as much history as I should on it, but in a few words,

More is getting done, faster, and quality does not seem comprimised.

Fender aquiring Jackson...2 thumbs up, and support it 100%

I didn't realize intellegent realizations were against the law. Since you're always trying to start crap, we could say it was you. I also don't believe that this thread had anything to do, with what you thought my identity is, it was to my full understanding that it was about comments having to do with FMIC owning Jackson. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, one more bitch! I have now downgraded Fenders C- to a straight up D!!! I saw in the new guitar player the ad for Jackson. The one the guy from Nile and one of the guitar players from Dimmu Borgir. The man from Dimmu that they are referring to as "Silenoz" is in fact "Galdur"!?!?!? Cmon guys! pull your underwear back down from your heads for cryin out loud.
The funny thing is that the guitarists from Dimmu play Jacksons because they like them not because they are endorsed by Jackson. I'll bet somebody actually had to tell the Fender marketing guys that the preeminent black metal band on earth actually played Jacksons. AARRGGHHH!

• Re: Jackson Wants YOU!

FMIC's doing a good job so far, but there are definitely problem areas regarding endorsements, After-sale Customer Care, and the like.
A breakdown of/reason for the 15% increase would be much appreciated beyond the "well we haven't had a price increase in years" - let's have a specific breakdown of where that 15% is going. I spoke with John Walker at NAMM and he mentioned they were working on new production techniques to not only decrease production time, but POSSIBLY (as in "theoretically, it could work") adding minor options (i.e. reverse headed SL1, single hum, etc - SMALL changes to Production models) without having to go Custom Shop (unless you wanted a full range of options - the two I specifically mentioned to him were reverse heads on an SL1 and a hardware-color change). While he did NOT state that the new production techniques WILL ALLOW for such options at little or no charge (or even at all), he did state they will have to wait and see how the new ideas AND EQUIPMENT works out (my guess is part of the 15% increase is going for new/updated equipment).
That, of course, is a good thing; for Jackson to be able to get more into modern techniques AND reduce turnaround time.
While some of the "mojo" of a totally handmade guitar is gone in a lot of people's opinions, so are the overly high prices and ridiculous wait times. What good would a totally handmade guitar do you if you ordered it the day you were signed but didn't get it until the day before you were killed in a plane crash in the middle of your 2nd album's tour!?

Keep up the good work - ignore the whiners - kick maximum ass
