Black black and black...

Hi,

Anyone got any pics of either metallic or perl black USA jacksons...any body type - just wanna see the colour diffferences....

I can understand what the metallic would be like...but the perl - is it a silvery black? Does that make any sense!!???

these are pics of a pearl black SL1 I sold not too long ago (notice that it pretty much just looks black; if you put it side-by-side (in person I mean, not the pics) with a plain black jackson, there's a noticable 'silvery-ness' or 'pearliness' to the pearl black. It's pretty subtle though)

as far as I've been told, the pearl black is similar to the metallic black except the metallica flakes used in the pearl finish are much smaller/finer. sorta more like metallic dust than flakes almost.

Here's a 1988 Soloist in metallic black. It doesn't show up well in the picture. The lower horn kinda shows it. It is like a dark charcoal color with small flakes.

There is some variance in metalic black. My SL1's got
very tiny flecks in it, to the point where you have to be
pretty close to notice the 'sparkle.' I've seen others
where it's very easy to spot, so I'm guessing they
used a dif. paint lot from time to time.

FWIW, I love the metallic black. Can't go wrong with that
for a hard rockin' instrument...

Hi all,

Well, I went for the metallic black in the end and I am very happy I did. The 'flecks' are quite small and reflect purple, green and red under strong light - quite a ncie effect. At first glance and in dim light the guitar looks nice and black (I was worried it would be too spangly) but when you angle it in the sun you get this lovely depth to the paint!

So - I am very happy - thanks for your collective thoughts...
