good luck and enjoy it,
That thing is awesome! I hope to have a new SL1 pretty soon.
I bought a Floyd for a project earlier this year from Scott
@Vwall and all I can say is that they are great people to work with. As for pickups you may try a EMG HZ for the passive route, I haven't tried them myself but heard that they were close to the 81. I use EMG's too and know what you mean about it being hard to get used to something else.

Nice one. I've seen VB in person. Pics usually don't do it justice. Congrats!
And be sure to thank the custom shop for the flamed maple neck. That's a killer bonus - usually not done on USA Selects, and it's a $120 upcharge on custom orders.
Consider the Duncan Full Shred--not that different tonally than an EMG81, though there is no passive pickup that will get you particularly close to the EMG tone.
If you know you like EMGS, you might as well just install those in order to be completely happy with the guitar.
Problem with the JB's in my opinion is that they are known for getting a lot of harmonics - BUT they keep going back to the same harmonic note - so the harmonic content is limited - you can't very it much using your fingers.
In other words you don't get a lot of variety out of them compared to a pick up that gets more complex and varied harmonic structures. Check out their reviews on harmony-central.com
Excuse me while I go wipe my chin...... Very, very nice Doug!
My future band shall be known as "One Samich Short Of A Picnic"!
Thanks again guys! I'm really digging it! Problem is...it's so nice I really don't want to play it much! Wierd huh?
Kramerhater...I think I've seen somewhere that this board doesn't want pricing being discussed. Give Scott at Vwall a call. I'm sure he'd be happy to quote you what I paid.
I think my next axe will be another SL-2H in a solid color. Time to start saving.......
