Thanks for the suggestion, I'll pull the Kahler nut and truss rod cover. If , by chance, I find a work order #, can that lead me to a serial # somehow?
Not quite, but you can figure out what era it was from. Someday if Jackson starts giving out work order info again, they should be able to find what number it was.
Hey tmdiamond, I think I sent you a PM last night about the guitar and about the cases.. I'm not 100% sure if I did or not because I was really tired when I was typing it. Let me know if you got it or not.
Any chance of getting some more photos of that guitar?
I love the RR's but I've never seen one in a natural finish. Looks great !
I agree with the others that it may be a custom shop deal. My thought is a little different though. I think that because of what they said, plus the fact that it's a neck thru with shark fins, yet does not have binding.
I may be wrong, but I don't remember any neck thru's being made with shark fin inlays but no binding.
Ok, I finally took the time to get her all put back together. It plays really nice; as good as any of my other USA Rhoads. I'm not a big fan of smaller frets but these are in good enough shape that they still have some height to them. No numbers in the truss rod cavity. I'm going to call the guy who put it on consignment today and try and coax the serial out of him. Here's some pics of it all put back together.
PS....I actually thinking about going with a Schenker/Jabs thing if I refin it. You know, the black and white funky finish...I could ask Dave (Budman) to make me a couple of really nice pup rings; one black and one white, then maybe have the top half black, the bottom half white, the top bevel white, the bottom bevel black, and the headstock white with a black logo. Any opinions on the idea or if anyone is really good with photoshop, I'd love to see this idea put over one of the pics...hint, hint...
Nice guitar! And your Schenker-inspired refin idea sounds pretty cool. How would you do the white/black split on the headstock? I could see a couple of ideas for that area.
If you still have the guitar come February/March I'd be interested in it. (no funds at the moment). The Stryper refin sounds good, I also think Vintage Pins would be cool as well.
I have the same guitar almost..A 1984 RR Custom..Sanded down ready for the paint booth.I have been playing it like it is though.Mine is an original string thru...I got it off ebay about 6 years ago for $450..Has a repaired HS though..GMW quoted a price of $350 to get it back to new..Someday...Cort..I'd post pics but don't know how..Anyone wanna do it??
