Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

Ok, how about this, are you set in stone on the neck being oil finished??? or would you be open to changing it to a regular finish so it all matches with trans purple???

I would certainly vote for a regular trans finish instead of the oiled neck.

anyone else???

What do you think Scott??

Go with the dimarzios I say. I'm not much of a dimarzio guy so I don't know what would be a good combo. How about a push/pull to split the pickups? I think it will look cool.

I like the oiled neck myself, but thats just me. It makes these stand out from the regular SL2H's

I am really serious about this, I really want in on this, but that neck thing is bothering me. I am a serious buyer if the finish was regular on the neck. That thing would kick ass in Trans Purple with the whole guitar finished like that. Curious as to what Scott thinks. What do the other serious inquiry-potential buyers think Scott?

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

I'm thinking pups are a minor issue that can be easily changed. Dimarzio's sound good to me. I know Scott knows his Dimarzio's...so whatever we go with is cool with me.

The oiled neck is part of what makes it custom....So I vote we keep it oiled. (Got your back Jim)

Hardware color is chosen, so we're good there. Let's try to hammer this out so it's a done deal.

Sounds like you want it because it's custom, not because you like it.

Im with the oiled neck issue.. deepest sorry's there Tonemonster ;-/

As for pups.. I would want to go with Dimarzios.. Perhaps a Super 3 in the Bridge and Paf pro or TZ in the neck...
poss differnt colored pups?

At any rate.. if ywe nix the EMG's.. I would go Dimarzio..
However.. will you guys still want a battery box routed in it for future EMG's???

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

OK...Here's how I will vote:

Neck...Oiled is my 1st choice, Painted is my 2nd choice (it wouldnt stop me from buying).

Pups...Emg's are my first choice. 2nd choice is anything but the same old Duncans. (Dimarzio's then...I would like both to be black)

Too many choices complicate things...

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

My point on the neck issue is that if its oiled then its just a neck thru DK1.... Having a regular trans finish will be soo damn cool in purple. the back of the neck would be purple and the gold tuners would look awesome on the purple neck. To me, guitars with oiled neck look cheap, like some hack sanded the finish off in his basement one night while drinking a 6 pak. It takes away from the fit and finish of the entire instrament. If I am spending $1700 on a guitar, I want the whole thing finished in purple.

I guess the pickups arent that big of a deal....

any takers for a non oiled neck?

Hey buddy....It takes at least a 12pk for me to start hacking... J/K.....I don't drink, so it's more like a 2pk I guess. Point well taken though...The purple looks cool, and not everyone wants the oiled neck. But, it looks like Scott already made up his mind on that spec....I think.

I've never played a DK1 (plenty of DK2's though). I think the oiled neck will give it a "unique feel"...and look I suppose. I'm flexible enough to take it with, or without an oiled neck. The question is....Are you? It sounds like it's painted or nothing for you. Not trying to put you on the spot here. Just wanna see if you're in or out, so we can wrap this up.

Hey Scott...Lay some FINAL specs on us so we can decide if were in...or out.....Cool?

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

I would much rather prefer an oiled neck. I like them on the SLAT's. I don't think it looks cheesy. I've seen hack jobs on homade oiled necks and I've seen factory jobs. a factory job is sweet. This is a matter of preference. I can honestly say that if it's painted, i'm out, but with no hard feelings. It's just my choice and preference. I like anything that departs from the Factory SL2H. The more unique the better. Scott has to come up with the best design that will sell the guitar. I'm not sure if thats oiled or not, but Scott has a good idea I'm sure. I'm Ok with dimarzios.

Guys, don't do the PAF Pro in the neck, do the tone zone! PAF Pros are SO outdated. But, I guess it's easy enough to swap out. And, the Super 3 is an awesome pickup!

I've heard good things about the Tonezone. Another vote for the Tonezone.
