Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

If it was 1 hum, top mount Floyd, maple fretboard, and reverse headstock, I would be in. Oh..., and black hardware. The gold is a little too, "pimpish" for my taste. With purple anyway...

Scott, how many guitars do you need to order to get something like this?

Well, with those specs you have, it wont happen as a Usa Select small batch..
No wood working changes by rule from Jackson.
So it would have to be a custom shop
whether I ordered 1 or 10.

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

SOme dont liket the Gold hardware because its "pimpish", HEY! Pimpin' aint easy!!! yes its pimpish and I love it!!! Especially with purple. I can almost hear the intro Wah wah riff from "Shaft" in my head

alright, you guys beat me I will have to live with the oiled neck if I decide to order. I got to sit and think now..... can I do the oiled neck.

Sambencuda, I cant believe Ron never publically flogged you for that mis-spelling of subtle. good you caught it first!!!

The pickups are a non-issue for me. If I get one, the production pups will be swapped for Duncans before I even see the guitar. Maybe I can go get a can of varnish from the hardware store and slap some on the back of the neck.

BTW, I would REALLY be in if it was like mulder1966 described.

SO let me ask this serious question: How often do you have to oil a oiled neck?? I have a 1997 Dk1 that I wondered if I should oil the neck. Is that something you have to do periodically with tung oil??? help me on this. THanks!!!

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

Well, I don't think it's something that you have to do periodically, but I could be wrong. I did a tung oil finish on a Fusion I had and an Ibenhad 7 string. The more coats you do, the more the tung oil will build up. I put two coats on the Fusion and it felt almost like raw wood. I put 4 coats on the 7 string and it had more of a satin finish feel to it. I played those for over a year and It never seemed to wear down. I would think that after a while, it might wear to the wood, but It hasn't happened to me yet.

Re: Trans Purple...I\'m all over this one

My new necks I use boiled linseed oil, (Lee suggested this type) and oil them 3 times. I rub them with my hand very fast, the friction generates heat and seems to seal better. After that I do it a couple times more after a month or two. If you play them alot, the sweat and booze seems to keep them nice and smooth!

spaeking of pimpin this guitar out, I say we go for different inlays- How bout inlays of purple velvet fedora hats with pink feathers in them??? hows that sound? and a pearl cane for hte whammy bar? and spokes on the volume knobs.

actually naked lady inlays would be cool come to think about it

LOL.. and the funny thing is Jim, I spelled subtle the exact same way... but edited it out of fear of the over correcting mrs. fowl.. I mean roN

Anyways gents... Im leaning towrds a Diamrzio Super 3 bridge and the Tone Zone in the neck.
Whats the final words as I only have a few more hours til this last change goes in...

along those pimp lines, I do have one request: should we have "Slick" engraved on the truss rod cover?? Maybe the case should be lined iwth thick pink shag or white with black zebra striped shag? whatcha think???

I dont care about the pickups so I wont vote there. You guys can pick them. If I order one, I will have mine retrofitted with Duncans before I even see it. So my vote is mute.

Super 3 and Tonzone sounds good to me as well as the zebra shag in the case.
