Replacement METAL pickup rings - KE2

Hi all,

Did a quick search but found nothing conclusive.

My KE2 has plastic pickup rings...I gotta thinking wouldn't it be nicer if they were metal to match the rest of the hardware - a bit like on my Ibanez.

So - can you get metal replacements, can you get them in the UK? If so - do they affect the pickup at all (surrounding a coil with a metal loop???).

Sure you can order them from STEWMAC for example.

It should be no problem, many Jackson guitars come with metal rings (all trans colors).

When I threw some EMG's in one of my KE's I also threw a set of flat metal pup rings on there as well. I've since put them on alot of my guitars and there's no sound difference to worry about. You can find them at multiple places on the net...just do a search.

Did you use the 3/16ths height ones over the 3/8ths ones?

I've used the thinner one, the 3/16". The thicker one suits a bridge pickup on a string-thru, might be too high with a recessed floyd.

Our very own Budman makes metal rings for just about any pickup/route you can think of. He makes quality stuff. He just made me solid brass rings for my SLATQH and is soon going to be making me custom rings for my 87 Arch top.

Ahh....yeah I forgot....Dave (budman) is the man...he'll get you any pup rings you need...give him a shout. He's got a site Frets on the net

You could try this shop in Germany: http://www.musik-produktiv.de (you can switch the language on the bottom of this page). They sell metal pickup rings and ship also to the UK.

...or www.rockinger.de, they´re also based in Germany, IIRC they have metal Rings, and I think they ship cheaper to the UK [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Rockinger doesn't sell metal pickup rings, they only sell metal caps.
