• Finished or Unfinished necks on the Soloists

Ok-Just a quick poll here to so how many prefer the finished neck over the unfished necks on Jackson Soloists.

Back in the day, Jackson used to make unfinished necks for the WR1, Slatq and Soloists..
I wonder if they stopped due to lack of demand or what..
And since Im doing a run here on the trans purples, Id like to hear what the J/C world has to say about it.

Thanks!

You know, I don't think I've ever played a Soloist with an unfinished standard profile. Honestly, though, it doesn't usually make a huge difference to me. I can get by fine on either. However, sometimes that raw feel IS almost orgasmic, I must admit.

I prefer unfinished neck but if the neck is skinny or thin, I woudl not mind of finished neck.
Some guitars will look weird with unfinished necks.

On unfinished necks, do you mean nothing has been applied to the wood (not good), or is there some type of sealer like Tung Oil been applied? My Wolfgang has a sealer over the maple and plays fine, although I can get by with either finished in lacquer or polyurethane or Tung Oil for that matter.

Re: Finished or Unfinished necks on the Soloists

Jacksons are the only guitars with finished necks that I enjoy. Every other guitar feels crappy to me.

Until I played an oiled neck I never wanted one cause of how they looked. Now its all I play ,the feel is a lot better to me.I'd go oiled instead of painted.

Finished, but satin instead of high gloss!

Like Paddok, Jackson necks are the only ones I enjoy finished. I still prefer them raw, though

I'm with Paddok and Zerberus, Jackson/Charvel necks seem to be the only finished necks that I seem to like. Hello Scott, This is Rev.Timmy.I will talk to you soon.Looking forward to doing business with you!

Doesn't really matter to me. I can play the same on high gloss, matte satin or oiled.
