What a great addition to any collection! Amazing guitar... How does it feel to play? It just looks like a comfortable guitar.

I have the Evo2 in the bridge of an RG520QS and it matches well with a Paf Pro in the neck, but I don't think they have a Paf Pro in a single coil package. The only H-S guitar I have had that had aftermarket pickups in it was an RG3XXV that came with a D-Activator bridge and Air Norton S neck. Sounded great and I wish I hadn't sold it, but it seems that people either love or hate the D-Activators. I thought it was a metal hot-rod and harmonics just oozed out of it when driven hard, but sounded great clean too. I dream of having another H-S guitar with the same pickups... Currently looking for a nice old short scale Jackson Fusion to replace the hole in my soul left by selling a Charvel Predator and the RG3XXV.

It plays very similar to my Custom Select DK1. It is very comfortable to me because it is so similar to the DK1 which is my #1.

I have a JEM 7v which has the Evolution in both the bridge and neck. I really like that pickup. I understand the Evo2 is a little less hot than the Evolution bridge. What do you think of the Evo2? How hot is it? Love it? Hate it? Meh?

There's always strat-sized humbuckers, like the Little '59. Or do you prefer a true single coil, just hot?

A hot, stack would have noise cancellation but would sound like a Humbucker so why not get a H-H?

A hot true single coil will give the strat sound, but with that comes the noise and who want noise?

I think what I want is a hot stack that has a decent single coil sound. Supposedly the BK Trilogy fits that bill, but I am not 100% sure about that.

I am a ways off from figuring this out.

Beaut and has the rare Duncan Parallel Axis trembucker at the bridge. I have the Distortion version of that in one of my Charvels and it is an INTENSE lead pickup!

What's rare about the Parallel Axis pickups? Not a whole lot of people seem to be aware of them, but they're not exactly rare. They've been around since the early to mid '90s, and they're still made today. There's the standard PATB-1 and PATB-1 neck, the PATB-2 Distortion and the PATB-3 Blues Saraceno, as well as the single coil version. They even made a Crazy 8 version in the Custom Shop that had an Alnico 8 magnet. They're still on their website and you can order any version you want, and the Custom Shop will put other magnets in, too.

I also had a Distortion version in my old RR1-T and thought it was indeed pretty intense and crushing!

BK makes great pickups, but none of their single coils are hum-cancelling. They're all true single coils with the regular hum. If you want real hot from them, try the Sinner or a Duncan Quarter Pound.

Ok, good to know. Thanks for that info. The description for the Trilogy on the BK website makes it sound like it is not a true single coil, marketing info....

No problem. From what I remember reading on their forum awhile back, Tim, BKP's owner, does not like to wind and will not wind noiseless single coils. The Trilogy pups are great for metal, though, from what I understand.

I have never had a guitar with an Evo so I can't compare the two, but they say its not quite as hot. At first I was on the fence about the Evo2, probably because it was so different from the Tone Zone and more mid-rangey. The more I use it the more I like it, plus it matches up good with the Paf Pro neck on that guitar. It's a weird guitar though, has a strange resonance.

A hot stack might be good, like you mentioned above. I built a parts guitar with strat body and old Roadstar neck with HSS and put in a set of used soloist pickups, the hot stack middle and neck pickups are nice.

I'm scanning the guitar sites now and hunting down a good Fusion... Trying to be patient and its hard! Good luck on the pickup.

Supposedly the YJM Fury pickups have the true strat sound without the noise, at least according to Yngwie. Never tried them myself but I've always been interested.

I looked really hard at the YJM Fury. From what I understand, Yngwie likes low output pups and as a result the YJM Fury is a low output pickup. That is why they do not produce much noise.

The low output of the current single coil is what is motivating me to swap pickups. I feel like the Metal Gods are smiling when the bridge pickup is used on this guitar then when you bring in the neck Pickup they think “pussy” and walk away with disappointed looks on their faces.

My thought is to position this guitar as a hot, modern voiced instrument. So I made the decision last night. Found a killer deal on a used-but-unused Evo2 on Reverb that is in immaculate condition so I bought it then I ordered a BKP Trilogy neck. I realized I needed a non-triangle base single coil due to the route on the guitar and Tim was happy to build exactly what I need. If the Trilogy is a bust, I can always sell it and try something else.

My plan is to half shield the pickup cavities then fully shield control cavity and tremolo cavity (and connect them all to ground) to help offset the noise.

I have not pulled the pickups from the body yet so I do not know which model it is. I will be selling the pickup once I do the swap. I will DM you and give you first dibs on it. Probably will be a couple of weeks to a month before I do the swap due to international shipping from BKP.

i have a jem 7vwh with evos in it...my go to pickup though is usually a dimarzio gravity storm...more of a hard rock pickup (its high gain but a lot mellower than the evo) with a very distinct midrange that i don't hear in many pickups...i like evos for rhythm but for single note stuff the gravity storms are just fatter sounding...d.m.
