  • 1990 Fusion neck, possibly fake?

I bought this neck for my Grover Jackson body. Seller told me it was a 1990 Fusion USA neck. I've never seen the "Made In U.S.A." overlap the "Jackson" logo. The Jackson Guitar Owners Forum on Facebook told me there are several things wrong with this neck that point to it not being USA, thought I might come here and see what you guys think. The seller has agreed to give me a refund but won't be immediate

This is the Reverb listing the seller I bought the neck from provided when I asked where he got it. So to clarify, I did not buy this neck on Reverb. This is the neck that I have though

The "Made in U.S.A." is normally a hand-applied decal isn't it? I'd blame its small overlap on fact that they're applied by hand. Maybe it was a "Friday afternoon guitar" and whoever applied that "Made in U.S.A." logo was a little careless or imprecise that day. I'm not worried otherwise. The neck has all the hallmarks of a USA neck: nice fretwork, tight-grained ebony fretboard, authentic mother of pearl Jackson headstock logo and finlays, tidy-looking binding, correct headstock shape, obvious quartersawn maple neck and headstock joined by a scarf joint, etc.

I can't get it in a picture but when I rotate the neck in the light, you can see the wood grain running underneath the black base coat, like the paint wasn't thick enough. No way to get a pic though since my camera isn't very good. The neck feels very high quality, I'm just not sure the headstock wasn't reshot. It also has the box end truss rod instead of the open allen truss rod, I was told that's not correct for a neck from that year

my 89 dinky has the box end truss and it's definitely american...yous looks ok to me (as others have mentioned there are definite anomalies out of the custom shop but nobody is perfect)...the real question is do you like the neck and does it play well?...d.m.

Can't play it yet since the body it's going on is missing most of it's hardware. but going off feel alone it's great. It has a crack in the fretboard that goes from the tail end into about the 21st fret, which also separated the binding. It came from a different part of the country so I'm letting it adjust before I look into repairing it
