USA SL1 Back plates

I picked up a used 2007 SL1. It came with a back trem plate off ( but in the case) and without plate screws. The plate is metal/aluminum and does not fit even though the holes line up.

The control cavity plate is metal same as trem plate and no issues with it.

The GC store that sold me the guitar told me plastic is stock. Mine are aftermarket. I don't believe GC.

Please tell me the truth.

I have one...first I had to drill a hole through it, to stick a curved allen wrench in it, to pry off.
Then I ended up using a grinding wheel to trim all 4 sides.



But, to answer the question -
How are we to know if it is aftermarket or not.
Besides, some aftermarket parts are better than original. Some are pieces of junk.

Metal is stock for USA models.

Interestingly, the way you describe how it doesn't quite fit is why I don't mind plastic covers, which can flex a little bit and come off easily enough when I want to remove the cover. Sometimes my metal ones are extremely tightly fitting in the recess rim, practically rubbing up against the finish and making it "stick". The metal ones need to have very precise routes and rims routed for them, which includes compensating for the thickness of the finish, or else the metal covers will "stick".
