First I would like to say, I tipping the bottle But I have three trem covers in front of me and they don't feel like steal would? Mine feel like brushed aluminum, I could be wrong they are from different years, starting at 86 and going 96

The plate I have measures 86.4mm wide. The cavity measures 85.9mm.
Sanding down the plate will f up the screw holes. No way is the cavity going to be touched.
My tech showed me this: If you take a ruler across the back of the body there is a slight bow. (Very shallow smiley face).
Could the body have "warped" causing the plate to no longer fit?
