  • Help me identify this guitar

    Hi All
I have acquired a Jackson guitar which is white/blue crackle. In the term cavity it says the following:
    RO 2676
    DUE DATE 12-7-87
    NECK N/A
    BODY w/BLUE CRACKLE

Its a neck through body in SSH

Was thinking about creating a frankenstrat type of thing but wondering if its actually worth anything before I start, nice thin neck

    Any ideas what it is?

      I'm confused.
      What don't you already know?
And just how are you going to create a "frankenstrat" from a neck-thru.

What I was going to do was use it for parts and recreate something but unsure as to what the guitar actually is and whether it could be actually worth anything.

From what I can see, it looks like a Jackson Soloist from 1988 maybe an SL1 but the trem is Jackson branded as are the pick ups. If it could be worth something I won't take it to bits and probably sell it/trade it

it's a soloist custom. ontario, california-built. if you cleaned it up you could probably sell it for $1500+. look on ebay and reverb for soloist custom examples from the late '80s. crackles can fetch a premium these days, and the blue/white is rare.

jackson trem and pickups would be standard fare for custom instruments from this time.

but what's weird to me is... how would somebody not know that a jackson from the 1980s would be "worth anything?"

I've never owned a Jackson, never been on my radar, I am Ibanez and have a few from the 80s which are probably worth nothing. Acquired this when my brother moved out, got this one and a rainbow crackle Charvel

80's guitars of most brands are worth more than todays guitars. I think thats a low price guess, I'd say 2000. or more, pretty easy if you have everything and it's plays good.

Can you have a look at this pic, I am missing a part but not too sure what it is called. I want to restring it but this is the bit which locks the string into the bridge

Its a string locking insert or block.

Like ed said. Locking block and JT-6 string insert cover, but you could remove all the covers( the part that hides the locking block) if you wanted. Still need a block which they are really cheap.

Aah OK so the bit I think I am missing is the cover, the blocks seem to be there (I think). I always thought that it was the cover that 'pinched' the string. I have taken a pic with 3(4) of the covers missing. Should there be something in the hole or should it just be the cover that locks the string in place. If that is the case I need to find a stockist over here that I can get one from. They appear to be quite hard to find which is not a surprise. That being said though, I could rob one from the Charvel that I am hoping to get rid off too. Guessing the Charvel (pic below) will be worth considerably less.

shows you how long its been since I changed strings on a JT6 - I thought the block and the cover were all one piece.

Either way, I would take the two guitars and swap the parts to make sure I had one complete 'original' unit.

The second one is a model 6 and is higher in value too That one would be 1500 and up. I had one of the only rainbow crackles I've seen besides ones in adds

Added: could be a 650 toelo, with a changed bridge they would have a schaller. if it's neck through with a toothpaste logo 650 mo

                            Id 2000 today
