  • An '86 neckless body on fleabay

I've always been a lurker here but decided to go legit and ask a question.
Am I right in thinking that no matter how nice it would be to have an early 1986 body...that without a neck I'd be starting a wild goose chase to find a period specific neck to match and drop another 2 grand doing so?

I keep looking at this Serial #1061 that looks like a legit '86 Ontario bolt on, but I'm not up for a years long wild goose chase before I could play it. I'd rather drop that $3k on second USA Select from the early 90s.
Some of you may have already noticed it.

I dont know about otheres but i would hard skip that in a second. I mean its just wood. Maybe you would get something for the hardware and the neckplate. But if i would make something out of that i would have to strip it and refinish it anyway. Ofcourse if you are looking for an eternity project.

i mean it's worth $400, assuming it's not a dud. kahler pro, emgs, good quality body (hopefully resonant). but not worth much more than $400 and not a premium an intact '80s jackson would fetch. the extra holes are a bummer. the kahler by itself is probably worth $200.

If I were to nab it for $400 I would probably grab a musikraft strathead neck with 2 1/4" heel, and leave the body finish as-is. let's see how much it bids for

Thanks. Thats what I thought. Its worth about $400 but I agree the extra holes make it a mess, and I am specifically NOT looking for an 'eternity' project!
Once in a while I get to play an early San Dimas Charvel my friend bought in '84 and it makes me think crazy thoughts. I should have doubled down in '95 when I got a minty '93 USA Custom Select for $1000
