  • San Dimas 84 or 86? Who built her? Need help to identify

I bough a guitar that passed two modifications by previous owners.
It's obviously a San Dimas due to the neck transition to the body, the Kahler and pegs.
The guitar plays like butter. Most amazing neck I have played in life. Have other USA and none is so perfect a neck.

The first modified the fretboard. The previous owner has chnged the frets and the guy who made the service removed some milimeters of fretboard. It's possible to see the collateral effects:
1 - He needed to cut a little the bind
2 - The radius now is like 10"-16"
    3 - I can't see a serial number

The second modified the colour, removed the three switches and put a 3 way toggle. She was gray bengal and now she is pearl white. The three holes for the former switches can be seen with somes kind of plastic substance filling it from the electrics box.

The guy who sold me saying she is an 86.
But I found the pictures from the previous owner in many FB posts saying she is an 84.

I have compared the little fails in the fretboard of the previuos guy pictures and it matches the physical guitar with me. It's really the same.
The guy who painted doesn't reminds any info, but says there was a name and some numbers under the bridge made with pen that was covered by white paint.

Can anyone help how could I know what guitar is she?

Binding seems to be modified to fit the modified fretboard:

    No serial:

the fact that it's been repainted and the serial number sanded off means it's going to be very hard to date... the original finish might have had a date written on it somewhere in the trem cavity or under the bridge, and if you had the serial you could map that back to a year. alas...

      Indeed.
The previous owner said there's a number and the name of a guy under the bridge.
But I'm affraid of sandoff the paint and destroy the information.

I have an all original '84 (3xxx serial number) Charvel pointy headstock with brass Kahler that is stamped U.S. PAT. APPL'D FOR.

Can't quite make out the letters are on yours. If it is something other than what is on mine (or like this one), I'd be more inclined to say '86 vs '84.

Beautiful. Reminds of FR 84 that comes with brass screws.
          Mine is all iron.

After playing this guitar I started to like very much the Kahler. I live in Rio de Janeiro. Weather varies much and Kahler is more stable than OFR to these changes. And you can try to continue the guitar when high-end e breaks hehehe.

Just kidding i like very much the fact that there's no spring box in the back.

I heard these San Dimas soloists doesn't have scarf joint.

          Anybody knows about it?
