In a live situation - standing up - and shredding - nothing beats a Rhoads shape. Very good balance and more important: when you raise your relaxed fret-arm and grab the neck, what fret area did you grab? Around fret 9-12 right?! Shred position!
Try that with a Soloist. You'll end up at around fret 5-9. Not shred position.
Heh, just my opinion The Rhoads shape just feels right for me.

Same situation regarding my superstrat-shaped guitars versus my KE3. Man, I'll tell you... that KE3 had awesome balance and placement when standing up. I imagine it's like that for a Rhoads as well, since its strap pins are in sort of a similar location to the Kelly. I don't know though since I've only ever played a Rhoads sitting down at the store. I've only finally adjusted a little bit to wearing my Soloist standing up. It's pretty good, but the Kelly balances better and more of the fretboard hangs to the left, which is comfortable when soloing up high.
Dang it you guys, I want a Kelly again and also a Rhoads.
I love RR shape but what I hate about it is when I use a strap and look at myself, I really look weird.
I get so used to see my rock star images with Strat shape guitars and these RR and Explorer will look very funny on me.
Again, thank you for the numerous and quick replies everyone.
Dreamland_Rebel, if that's you happy - I'd hate to see you after someone eats your roast beef sandwich.
By the way what EMG combo are you using there - and how are you liking it? I've always been a passive kind of guy, but have always pondered on the thought of giving them actives a try.
I've seen some of Dreamland_Rebel's band photos... none of them had his famous APC pickups in them. I am guessing they're just slightly older photos. But damn, whoever was taking those pictures is talented. I love how the camera settings and film type are included below the picture.
yeah that's our buddy jeff - he takes amazing photo's. i wish we could get him out at every show.
we'll be opening up for confessor sat the 16th.
oh yeah, i currently do not own an APC. i bought one for my brother's guitar when i was fixing it up for him and have been dying to get one ever since. but spent my money on adds in BWBK instead and Unrestrained instead. but i will get them for my new guitar that sully is making for me! js-0009 !!!! whoohoo - can't wait!

oh! forgot to include this.
RR shape guitar only makes me to play Randy Rhoads licks.
That is a problem... at least for me.

I don't want to sound like an interrogator again, but WHY exactly are you bumping a topic that was already on the first page and the previous reply was LESS THAN TWELVE HOURS before? Plus, I've noticed AT LEAST half a dozen instances where you will do this, and probably MORE if you include the simple "bump" replies for second-page topics. Tekky knows what I am talking about, so I'm not entirely crazy.
You have three hundred posts at the time of this writing. I don't believe you're doing this to artificially increase your post count because there's no point to that.
Hope you don't mind me asking (again), but what's your motive? I wasn't going to bring it up again but this one just sticks out like a sore thumb.
It's not really a big deal if he IS posting for #s, because that only affects him in the long run. Everyone knows if your acknowledgable or not, no matter how many posts you have. So really, if you are typing to feel like a part of the crowd or to fool yourself into thinking you know what you're talking about when it comes to gear, take a 3rd perspective shot on that and it'll become clear that you're just wasting your time!!!
Meh, that's a good point Guitarist. I'm gonna drop this now... no use slinging mud. It's not my style. Metal_Maniac, carry on with your harmless bumping if that's what you do.
