    Re: DK-1: Bastard Stepchild?

I´d love to get my hands on an older DK1...the quilt top, the bound body, the gold hardware...flat out beautiful. The newer ones...well, I´d rather just go with a SL2H.

For some reason I don´t like any 24 Fret Bolt-ons, dunno why.... ;')

I'm with you on that one brother.
Just not as comfy as a 22fret neck.

Lately, I've been wanting a DK-1. I've always been a freak for Soloists but I've also got a thing for strat-body Jacksons. In my opinion, the DK-1 is a Soloist with a bolt-on neck. Not sure if that's 100% accurate but the bodies are identical I think. I'd like a DK-1 w/ gold hardware (OFR) and no graphic.

DK-1s are my personal favorite in the Jackson line-up. I own several.

I have one old Dinky from the 80s that is great. I just ordered the Bolted Steel DK-1 that Scott (Vwall) had on closeout. I'll have to see how it is. I have a feeling I am not going to like the bound neck as much as an unbound one. I've never played an unfinished/oil-finished unbound neck. We'll see soon enough.

I am beginning to think that the Jacksons I love the most are the ones that are no longer made: Strats (and Dinkys) with unbound bolt-on 22 fret necks. I have recently acquired 2 more-or-less new Soloists and I am not crazy about the painted, bound necks.
