Re: DK-1: Bastard Stepchild?

The DK1 rocks!!! I love the EMGs and oiled neck on the newer model. Some people here have major problems if they can't get around a bolt-on neck joint to reach all 24 frets. Then again, I've heard people also complain about the older mid '90s DK1 with 22 frets and H/S/S Duncans.

Funny... I think I just bought one!
Were they called DK1 back in 1990?

Absolutely stunning guitars! I own 03 DK-1, bought it in mint condition in here. OMHO 9-42 doesnt give the guitar its all playability, i changed to 11-48 strings and lowered tuning to D. And it plays now even better than it used.

Ofcource you cant play sweeps from 17 fret to up as good as on a neck-through, but it hasnt stopped me. And the neck on DK-1 is just too good! i highly recomend it!

Man, I love the Fusion so much and have had 2 of them, a 1990 and a 1991, Electric Blue and a rare Coral Sea one that was mint. I really wish Jackson would re-issue the Fusion, but with a medium C neck, damn those thin necks Jack.

Yep, Dan is right!
Other than him, I received Zero innterest on the DK1 copper head..
I would still love to do that run but with the feedback, or rather lack there of, I couldnt afford to
risk several thousand dollars on stock that noone wants :-/

I personally prefer the DK1 over the rest. I love the oiled necks and the profile.
Its not as comfy on the sweeps as a Soloists but Im used doing it on them.
That's another main reason I did the SL2HT Chlorine and SL2H trans Purple Burst Limted Edition Models...
To have some soloists with oiled neck and give the Jackoson buyers a little added variety.

What's the difference in neck feel between the DK1 and DK2? I've never had the chance play a USA, and I prefer the H/H set up. Just curious.

I wonder the same thing.
I have a DK2 and never play it.
It just sits here looking pretty.
Does the DK1 neck have a different feel?

I have owned both and can say, the DK1/Fusion neck is pretty much the same style neck and the DK2 and that is why I have sold them all, too thin for me, but all were great guitars if you like thin C necks. A little thicker and I would be there. Jack.

For your info, I used to lived in Seattle, had a late 80s Jem and a prestige, and I don't remember them "warpping" thru the season change.

And doing toss rod adjustment is normal, you have to do them when ever you change your string gauge.

I have the NAMM 03 / Catalogue Nebula graphic DK1 and it's OK...My wife bought it for me for my 30th so I can't ever get rid of it, but it doesn't really do it for me - sounds a bit dead, neck too thin, upper fret access etc (all of that personal preference stuff that's been said before). I really just play my GMWs at the moment anyway so even my neck-thru Jacksons and ESPs don't get much of a look in either!
Cheers

Could it have anything to do with Kevin Easton's recent run of Copperhead Soloists? I Would have gotten one of those DK-1s, had I the $$$....sigh....
