Re: DK-1: Bastard Stepchild?

I really think the red snake DK-1s with matching HS would have been the way to go Scott. Maybe we can resurrect that idea.

Then the obvious solution is to ditch the guitar, but not before ditching the wife... Just kidding!

What's your GMW Adrian's neck profile like compared to the DK1? I've played a DK1 so I can sort of approximate. I'm not sure what kind of neck profile Adrian had on his Jackson Strat.

Hmm, so your EMG-85 in the bridge of your Adrian and your DK1 sound different? I know you like the 85 in the Adrian... just curious as to why you don't like it in the DK1.

If I could get my old DK1 for what I paid for it back, I'd be on it in a heart beat.

NTOP: Nah - wouldn't trade out the wife for anything (cheesy but true!) The Adrian GMW just sounds much more 'alive': It's really difficult to describe in words, but it's almost like the DK1 has really old strings or is made of a really un-resonating wood in comparision.
As for neck feel, the GMWs feel narrower at the nut and are more rounded at the back (not a million miles away from an Axis to my clubby hands!) Bascially, I wouldn't trade the GMWs for any other guitars out there, and my custom shop Jacksons would get sold before they would!
Cheers

Dk-2 necks are thin? Since when? Certainly not the new ones. I've got an older "Proffessional" on the head DK neck that's thin, but the 2002 HRF DK2 I had came with what I consider to be a fat neck, though not as fat as a Firebird Pro.

I had around a 2001/02 DK2 and I thought the neck was very thin, but I also think the Gibson 1960s slim taper is kinda thin Jack.

Re: DK-1: Bastard Stepchild?

I own 2 DK-1s. The 03 NAMM silver black dragon and the 03 catalog graveyard. The dragon sounds a bit thin so I switched out the 85 and 81 and it helped. Also I was dissapointed in the fret work on that guitar. Almost seems like it was rushed to get to the NAMM show. On the other hand, the graveyard has great tone with no mods at all. The fret work is the best of all my USA Jacksons. It is my favorite Jackson. I suppose if my sl-1 and sl-2 had oiled necks I would probably play those more than I do but the oiled neck is where it's at for me..

I would love to get in on the chlorine sl-2ht your doing. I saw it a while back and thought it would be a sweet axe for sure. I am fortunate enough to own OSG #9 chlorine and I think it would make a perfect mate. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of an engine build for my 66 GTO so I have been cut off by the little lady for a while.

I love my DK-1 (´97 Model), and I´ll probably grab another as soon as Jackson goes back to 22 frets.

For some reason I don´t like any 24 Fret Bolt-ons, dunno why.... ;')
