Nice looking axe. It looks like a KV2 with gold hardware to me though.

Congrats, you got a real nice KV there!

I love KVs, but only got a KVX10 so far (I want more, but being a string-thru player it's not as easy).

BTW, judging from your username you might like to check out my band "Devastator". We play straight up death metal... here's a link to one of our songs we recorded:

      And welcome to the board!

      Will do.Thanks! hail \m/

Re: Just bought a \'98 KV1.what do you guys think?

Technically, it IS a KV1 by virtue of it having Dave's sig on it and especially if the bridge volume is infront of the neck volume, as Dave specifies on his Vs (its like that for my Moostaine Vs anyway...and the same for Dave's from what I read on his Custom Work order)

Spec wise, it's identical to that of a KV2, but I mean the only difference between a KV1 and KV2 is Dave's name, the bridge, and reversal of bridge and neck volumes.

Dave and Marty did a limited run of 100 KVs and KEs for Musicians friends a while ago...i believe some (or all) were signed by dave and marty with gold marker. The serial number should read MF....

Yea these are sold as KV1 and limited edition.
Without Dave's signature, it would be a KV2 with Gold hardwares though.

But the same thing goes to Big Red.
Some newbies would think it is just a KV2 with 22frets and non recessed trem.

Somebody must've erased Dave's sig or something. I still have the Musicians Friends that advertise those, and Dave's sig should be right on the front of the guitar.
