Thanks for the reactions I don’t want it anymore after knowing it’s real history , thanks guys. He had send me another message:
” Just from my head (I am not at home now therefore
my guitar isn’t around here), the serial number is RR 1924. It is not
the original finish. That was red-sparkle according to my bests
information he transformed some ware at the beginning of its life natural.”
I ordered a SL-1 blue ghost €2499 = $3158.35 here in Holland but the importer made a mistake and sold the guitar to a shop in Belgium (he must be stoned) . So here I am without a new guitar maybe I can make a usa custom order, but I have to figure out the total shipment/import costs.
I remember someone on here, selling a Natural (finish stripped) RR1. I turned it down, unfortunatly, due to the finish being stripped off. But if that's the look you like, then perhaps you can still get it.
Even for europe that´s High. I can see a Swede or Norwegian paying that much, becxause they´re totally nuts as far as import taxes go. But for the Mainland or Even UK I´d pass or try to whittle him down to say, 700 Euros
Tax in Holland are 19%.and here you have to pay much tax over a imported product. A custom shop in the us with a price tag of $3400, is here in a guitarshop about €5400 ($6912 mind that €1=$1.28).
There insane
jim
yea I really dont know what the deal was on it other than what tim and mike said about that particular joint..
if anyone here has my old 5215 charv explorer please post a pic of the scarf joint .
its much lower than normal dimas era ones but not really the same as the later jackson boltons either... kinda weird looking.
I have had only a couple stripped neckthroughs so I cant say what they have for a joint by serial range, but I would think its gotta be the same if not one piece?
I bought RR1500 on ebay for I think $275ish, I did buy the original case, unmolested control plate, on the side for extra $$ . this was the black one that the guy pissed in the case. I stripped the guitar back down.
all told I think I had maybe $400 into it, and ended up selling the naked hulk. I couldve done the finish work myself but thought what the heck was I wasting my time on a kahlered student for,.
it was cheaper than normal I am sure due to the fact it had a kahler . BTW, it had no scarf joint.
codex you can do better, be patient and look around, you'll find something for reasonable money.
john
I have had two stripped raw J0400 era Soloists, no scarf joints on either. My Kelly is a tranparent finish (J0604) and has no scarf joint. The King V's (J0506 and J0672) have paint that has sunk in all joints, no scarf joints, but they both have an extension on the treble side of the headstock. H0440 has no scarf joint. The Rising Sun guitar (J0632) I personally stripped the neck on before shipping to GMW for refinish had no scarf joint.
G of R, that was my Rhoads you were referring to, which is an '85. I did PM Codex and offered to send him pics but I got no reply. I was stunned to see the price that guy wants for that Rhoads. Mine is an SD and I'd take less than half of what he wanted.
Hey, sorry I didn’t notify a message in my pm box.
He send me some more pictures(I said that I wasn't interested anymore)and asking € 950 (crazy ass ******)
Thanks again for all the useful information, maybe I should give him the url to this topic
Guys,
I went over there, because the guy lives in my city, this evening. He's very friendly and has an extraordinary collection of Jackson guitars. When I picked it up it had a bit of damage on one of the wings, kinda looked like "a bunny who just nibbled on a table" mark or something. The guitar was finished in one layer high gloss, so the wood has very little protection
The pick ups showed rust from the 18 years it served, wasn't too keen about that, but they still sounded good. He told me he hadn't maintained the guitar for a while, it wasn't in tune as well. It also had some slight wear on the finish but nothing really to complain about
I plugged it in and found the pick ups still sounding good, neck and fretboard seemed to be in excellent shape. Serial was different than mentioned by Codex though (I'm not in liberty to post something like this on a public forum like this, I'm deeply sorry). The guitar is excellent, and looks very neat except from the flaws above. It doesn't have abalone but white binding which I expected. I'm positively sure the bridge pick up is an old Paralell Axis and not a Full Shred. The neck sounded like a '59, he said he never checked and doesn't intend to.
Overall nice guitar, but just like you guys, wasn't very happy about the refinish and the rust on the pick ups, but heck the pick ups still sound good! I got him to lower it to 850 euros Codex, so now is a good time to strike if you plan to
It's my guitar. Terribly sorry to have come back to the forum after a long absence and see you all bash her.
Codex. Thank you for your incorrect translation of my original add and the emails I sent you. Thank you for not letting me know you weren't interested anymore. Thank you for not emailing me at all anymore after you rather rudely inquired if I had more pictures of her after which I sent you all I had. Thank you for calling me a "(crazy ass ******)".
I unfortunately am in a position which forces me to sell off most of my beloved guitars. Including this Rhoads. Yes, it is a San Dimas, one of the very last ones produced unless I am extremely misinformed. She's been in my possession for several years now and she's an excellent player, with a very smooth (SD profiled) neck and very good tone.
Yes, she's refinned. Would I have done that myself? Hell no. Does it matter? Yes, if you merely collect. No, if you want a player guitar which 'll give you years and years of guitar playing pleasure. I didn't mind when I bought her and I wouldn't want the prospective buyer to mind too much as well, 'cos she's still a beauty to look at. And I most certainly wouldn't want to see her in the hands of a probably young but most definitely rude 'person' (and I choose to use the term loosely) whose interest might change at the flick of a coin and wouldn't really care about her at all. I'd much rather keep her myself anyhow as I said, but my options are limited. So she needs to go to someone who really wants her.
As far as the price is concerned, some may find it unreasonably high and some will not. It's market value compared to real value compared to the depth and shallowness of ones pockets. If this 'codex' joke would have gone through the 'trouble' of really establishing contact with me, and perhaps to try out my guitar, he would have found that I am a most reasonable man, very open to negotiation and very unwilling to force a sale on someone who might well be not happy with the guitar after a while, albeit possibly for the wrong reasons. And also, the european market works decidedly different than the american, if one compares guitarprices and Jacksons in particular. SD's - and USA Jacksons on the whole - are more scarce in general here.
In my perception I decribed my guitar as well and thorough as possible and offered her for an in my view reasonable price with plenty of margin for negotiation. This 'codex' fart was merely a tyre kicker, probably mostly in it to brag about it here. Seen it before ...
Oh and Neeradj, welcome to stop by anytime And ehh ... in my recollection it was I who offered her to you for 850. Details, details ...
"Yes, it is a San Dimas, one of the very last ones produced unless I am extremely misinformed."
You were misinformed. I don't think anyone was dumping on it. We were asked our opinions and we shared them. SD Jackson are scarce here too, but luckily the internet has opened up a world market making it easier to find them for anyone interested. My last Jackson came out of Switzerland!
Don't take the posts above personally. It was just opinions about a guitar. You would expect the same straightforward treatment if you came here asking about a guitar you were interested in.
