    New SL-2H

    Greetings from a new member. I've owned 4 Jacksons and 2 Charvels over the last 20 years and I just got a new SL-2H with the Bengal graphics. I have 2 questions for you:

    1) Serial number is # U11000. I think the "U1" signifies 2001. Does that mean it's number 1000 built? It seems to have much more "tigering" than others I've seen and man is it a player!
    2) With the recent acquisition by Fender, do you think the value of "pre-Fender" guitars will go up?

    Did you submit a serial number inquiry at Jacksons site? Don't know if it's still available since the change.

    The U is for US and I think the number is just the sequential serial number I don't believe the year is indicated.

      What JacksonMan said... the serial number does not indicate what year it was built. My SL2H was made in 2002 and it is #11571.

        I didn't see the serial number request on the site. Maybe Fender deleted it. I also noticed the Bengal finish is not offered on SL-2H on the factory site. Anybody know how many they produce a year? I understand it takes awhile if you order one with graphics. This is probably the best player I've had. I love the *%$# thing.

              the U means US. 11000 is the number of neckthru body guitars made, in the US and i think that means only at the california plant ( correct me if im wrong).

              I have 3SL2's and one on layaway. My three SL2s are
              U10506 trans black built 11/1/01
              U11449 trans green mahogany 8/19/02
              U03375 gun metal grey, 4/24/96

              The serial number has NOTHING to do with the date it was made, its just the sequential order. You should have a *toe* tag, with your guitar its a small card, i want to say 3x5 and it will have the following information on it.
              WO
              Model
              S/N
              PKPS
              ELEC
              Color
              Neckdress
              Assembly
              wiring
              setup
              final inspection
              and a date

              W/o is for custom work orders, model is the model of the guitar, S/n is serial number, pkps is for the pickups, elec is for the electronics (any preamps or anything), color is for color. neckdress will have initials of the worker or did the neck on your guitar, the assembly same thing, same with the wiring, and same with the setup.

              final inspection will have initials of the dude who looked over your guitar, and the date was the date that it was completed.

                The tag says: final inspection was 3/25/02 and neck dress, assembly, wiring and set-up all have initials. Color is BGLY. I guess it's cool to have a round serial number of 11,000.
                I gotta tell ya - I'm amazed at the sound this thing has. Even unplugged it's loud and responsive, more than other neck-thru's I've had, and you FEEL the notes through the whole guitar-unplugged! Of course thru my Marshall it ripps my face off.(heh,heh,heh)This ain't no Fender. Anybody know which Seymour Duncans come with these? All the card says is 2 hums. I'd like to put 'em in some of my other axes.

                  The original bridge pickup is a JB and the neck a 59 on a SL2H.

                    Thanks for the pickup info. I've got a JB in the bridge position in a Strat and it's not as harsh as the SL. Also not as powerful.
