Re: Ever see a 25 FRET ONE HUM XTRR????

Thanks everyone. Actually I decided to go with a painted neck... I was so tempted to get a birdseye maple with natural finish, but I really wanted the mahogany, so I opted for painted, with red pinstripes coming from the back painted bevels and wrapping around the back of the headstock to match the look of binding on the front of the headstock. If you get what I mean by that

Newc, I see too many J serial guitars that just look like USA Production guitars... and I couldn't have any of that.

Actually, I do get what you mean by that. Wasn't there a blue flame maple custom shop RR with natural flame maple pinstripes (area not painted blue) where the natural pinstripes were integrated into the back of the neck? Okay, not the same as BEVELS but still very cool to look at. Shame I didn't save those pictures but I know someone has them. The custom RR also had dot inlays which some people thought was a little odd.

Yeah, there was a Blue custom RR with natrual pinstripes that ended near the headstock. Mine isn't so girly. lol I have a picture that I provided to the custom shop of what it'll look like (mine is pretty rough, but I'm sure the custom shop will make it look great!):

Oh, I forgot to mention, the binding is going over the fret ends too.

Nice!!! I guess you have a preference for the Schaller JT590? What do you prefer about it compared to an OFR? I've briefly played one guitar with a Schaller and it seemed like a very solid trem so I'm not questioning your integrity or anything.

Re: Ever see a 25 FRET ONE HUM XTRR????

I've had a number of OFR, and for some reason I just like the feel of the JT590 better. I like the shorter string clamp screws, and I feel that the fine tuners have a little more tuning range than an OFR, and since I have to go to from D# to drop C# in the middle of a set, that extra tuning range is appreciated, but not necessarily needed. They are thicker and have a different feel. My two main players have them, so thought I would just be uniform and include one on my first custom order.

It has also been my experience that palm muting is easier on a 590.

That's probably true. I just feel more comfortable with one than an OFR.... maybe it's because I was raised on a JT6.

that is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! Can't wait to see pics of it in the flesh Nice decision on the mahogany/mahogany Any particular reasoning behind going with a 3-piece neck rather than a one peice? (is mahogany more prone to warpage, etc than maple? I think I may have heard something like that) Sometime in the next couple years I'll hopefully be putting in a custom shop order for something rather similar to that in KV form (mahogany/mahogany, possibly H-H though, probably slightly longer scale)
