I'd imagine it's the price. Those custom painted guitars can get quite pricey

Guitar Xpress is a great place to do business with.

I have dealt with Lloyd on my last guitar and he also gave me a great price on a custom.

If it had a Floyd and I were rich, I'd buy it. That's my opinion

i have seen it at the great american gitar show. it looks ever better in person, although for the money, i'd rather have a NAMM 2003 colored dragon with the flame inlay

That's a custom guitar. There is only one like it. It's an absolutely gorgeous guitar that if I had the extra cash... well I'd probably still rather order my own unique custom, but I could imagine buying it if the price was right. That's what has kept anyone from buying it, the $3100+ price tag (figuring you'd pay roughly 60-65% of retail).

I'd like to buy it.

I leave in France ; 1 Euro = ~1.328 USD
It's really a good bargain for us compared to the European prices (I bought a SL2H Bengal at Mattsmusic last May and I saved almost 1200 Euro)

Re: custom soloist at guitarxpress

Having said how pricey it may be because of the custom paint job, etc.
It has been my experience that a guitar like that is hard to move. You almost, as a dealer, have to find a match out there. Either with a group of folks or an individual that "clicks" with it.

I've seen guitars that I almost immediately dislike or even hate, for no reason I can explain. Then, there are some that it is love at first sight and have pulled out the plastic thingy and bought it on the spot.

You have seen PRS Dragons, those beasts command +$10K and I will not be caught dead with one. Just not my cup of tea.

I will give a nut for a Hot Wheels Flame Retro Strat Head or SL1 with one Hum and a Black Floyd.

i agree with the observation that once you get to that $3-$4K price point things are difficult to move because you can get almost anything built custom for that price, totally tailored to you....the only thing you "save" is the build time.

If Floyd Rose ever invents a double-locking trem that is as narrow as a Tuneomatic bridge, a graphic like that would definitely be in my future

But yeah that thing is waaaaaaaaay too expensive. It's not so much a question of resale for me, but look what you get: one pickup, a fixed bridge, and a pretty graphic.
The graphic doesn't make up for the lack of tonal variety IMO.
