• Re: Limited Run USA 24 Fret Rhoads

We need a forum just for one-humbucker only limited edition guitars....LOL.

Seriously, though, most people who actually gig and don't play only uBeR dEAtH mETaL need more than just one pickup.

If you don't need a pickup, then just don't flip the switch and pretend it's not there....it's much harder to do the reverse.....

For someone like me, it's just getting the humbucking pickup template. Measuring where I need to put it, and put it in.

Someone who's a God damned moron starts routing and routs too deep or some crap like that, ruins the guitar, and we have to go through how to fill it for them.

I'm not paying X amount of bucks to route the guitar after I get it, and if it goes that way, I just won't get it. Not a big deal at all. One thing is for certain though, regardless of what this has, I bet it will be bitchin if it gets off the ground.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why would it cost you X amount of dollars to route the guitar if all you have to do is grab a jig and a router?

So what you're saying is that it's better for someone else to fill in a pickup than for you to route a body because they're stupid and would **** up a route... so the assumption is that they'd be successful at filling in a pickup and you would screw up your route? You could have just said, you don't want to have to mod your brand new guitar

No Xeno, for me like I said, it wouldn't cost me anything but the added cost of the pickup.

And I don't have to just say, I don't want to route it, I've already expressed that issue. I was highlighting why routing it afterwards is STUPID for EVERYONE who wants a humbucker in the neck. It's like putting a gun in a kids hands...

Notice how I mention, someone who is a moron, and would mess it up (not me, I've done this before well not to a 24 fret Rhoads, but you get the idea).

Again Xeno, no where did I say that it was easier to do one or the other. I was highlighting something equally ridiculous (routing a brand new guitar is ridiculous, and encouraging people who have not a damn clue to do it, is even more insane). If you read (I'm guessing you do) you'll see that it's nowhere in my post, that I've said one was easier. They are both retarded. In level of difficulty, yes a fill is about 100X more complex than a route, but on a level of retardedness on a brand new guitar, it's even less of a good idea.

It's been said by other people, and myself, why not get both pickups, and just leave the neck one alone, and pretend it's not there? We're all not uber death heads as one stated.

I guess your idea could be, get the Rhoads made as an LTD run...only a few people want it with 1 hum, and a few with 2...convince everyone to get one, and route it later, watch everyone **** it up, and you've got yourself a custom shop piece without the price! (joke) What a very diabolical scheme.

ANother option I thought off, but I know won't work, since it's a different guitar, have a few made 1 hum and a few made 2 hum, but I think each would constitute a different batch run.

Let's wait for Matt to come in.
If he says he can't do 24fret Rhoads for a regular price, then it's done.
We will all have to go with CS price whatever u want 1hum or 2hums.

I'm expecting an answer on this in the next few hours. And like Toru said, the reason this guitar would have 2 humbuckers is to try and keep the price down as close to RR1 pricing as possible.

Stay tuned!

I have some positive news on this project.

Here's what I know at this point: Jackson will build a limited run of 24 fret RR guitars for us and they will be somewhere between Custom Shop pricing and Select pricing.

Here's what I don't know yet: How many will need to be ordered to qualify for the special pricing and exactly how much I can sell them for.

The powers that be at JC are still debating over these topics. Just out of curiosity, how many are on board at this point? The guitar I'm looking into is exactly like an RR1 with a 24 fret neck. Finish is still up in the air.

Exactly what I predicted. I love it. If you guys choose plain ol' solid gloss black, let me know. Not only is that an inexpensive paint scheme, but it's my fetish too...

Black is fine with me.
Maybe colored bevels would be even nicer.
Matt, did you ask them if they were able to do it without a pickguard?

I don't see why they wouldn't do this without a pickguard. What's the opinion on black with white bevels?

Does that count as a graphic in this case? I looked on JacksonGuitars.com and here's what it says:

Graphics Colors Group D:
(809) Black with White Bevels (BLK/BVWT)

Would that be more expensive than a regular Group A solid color?

I just whipped up two mockups of black with white bevels. Actually, I like it a lot. It really matches the white binding. Here they are, with and without pickguard. Everything is the same as the regular RR1 except the two added frets and moved over last frets. Ignore the 24th fret sharkfin as usual since they're not there on the real thing. Matt, have you decided on which pickups to put in it?

Perfect looking guitars.
I love it and I am sure even if Matt can not confirm enough buyers here, he should be able to sell these on his website too.

I think from now what Matt needs to do is find how many people are interested in one of these posted by NOTP and just go ahead and order.
