I prefer 2 pups but one pup seems to get more acceptance

Personally, I think it should be one hum. If anyone wants a second pickup, they can have it routed for one after the fact.

Deneb, you want recessed, or string-thru? String thru sits at the same angle a non-recessed floyd would sit. That's why I'm so comfortable with either.

Deneb; You asked about the Road Hazzard Yellow Rhoads earlier. I have one of them and its a 24 fret with reverse sharkies, one EMG 81, diamond plate pickguard and trem cover, redline knobs. It has the Custom Shop logo on the headstock and an RR serial number thus making it a true custom shop. I'm not 100% sure on this but I don't think Jackson will assign an RR serial number nor put the custom shop logo on limited edition batch runs anymore. I also don't know if 24 fret and no pickguard or single hum will be allowed unless you go true custom shop. The reason I'm thinking this is that these all require different routing than a production 22 fret Rhoads so its really not a "minor" change.
I hope Jackson approves this project though.

As I said in the other thread, keep everything the EXACT SAME as the current RR1/RR1T except for the added frets and moving over the neck pickup in order to accommodate the extra frets. Keeps the cost down to a minimum so we don't venture into custom territory.

But anyways, I want to see what MATT decides on FIRST. Then we can jump in or decline. But just don't toy with him and say, "Damn, if it only had _______, I would be sooooooooooooo IN!" and crap like that. This ship already looks like it's going to sink before it even has left the port.

Anyway Matt will let us know what he can do with this and then whoever want to buy his limited guitars should continue to deal with him.

Sorry if I was unclear, I could go with either bridge, doesn't bother me. If it's string through, I'll probably add locking tuners, however...

I have NO problem with string through, Floyd, recessed or not. that's not my deciding factor.

I've thought it over, and I think I said it above, I've got no problem with a pickguard being there or not, personally, I'd like it, but if it gets this thing moving, not having one, it's not a problem.

I don't want the guitar routed after the fact, I want 2 hums, Distortion and Jazz, I mean we could swap pickups, but routing is a pain in my ass.

I'm cool with most everything else, just as long as we're still in the same theme, and it's some sort of black (black with bevels, black sparkle, solid black, trans black.)

Gold hardware on black though :P

I am like Deneb in that I am indifferent to pickguards, bridge types, pickups, and hardware color. But keeping things plain/basic/INEXPENSIVE is MY deciding factor. If front-loading and a pickguard is cheaper because it's standard like on the RR1/RR1T, fine, let's do it! It'll look like the normal RR1/RR1T we know and love except with two extra frets. But if we can swing rear-routing and no pickguard without increasing the price at all, that's cool too! Get my drift? [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Why would someone want to have to take their brand new guitar in to be routed for a pickup that should be there in the first place??

I'd keep it simple and exactly like NOTP said otherwise this is going to fall apart for those involved.

Interesting question Ranalli. I'm not sure, but PERHAPS, MAYBE, the lack of a neck pickup COULD be cheaper, but I am not entirely sure. This way, this leaves the option of having a single hum Rhoads open. Then those who want other pickup layouts can carve out whatever they need to in order to get what they want without upsetting/compromising others. I think it's a pretty cool idea. IF that way is cheaper, let's go for it! This will satisfy those with a one-hum fetish too. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] And who knows, I might grow to like the one-hum setup if I don't feel like spending the cash to route for a second hum and extra control knobs!

Of course if it's cheaper and actually do-able then it's on the table. But if it just causes more hassle then it might hurt the process, however, one thing to keep in mind is that if it is cheaper and the group goes that route, the front routed control cavity might be the way to go since people might feel more comfortable making mods to a plate for the extra controls needed instead of the guitar....even a plate swap would work in that case.

Deneb, it sounds like you just want a gold/brass 24 fret RR1/RR1T to me. 2 Hums kills it for me. I would go for 1 hum/ slant single.

Anyone interested in a one hum Red Marblizer Demon with non-recessed floyd?
