• Leopard Rhoads (pics)

Well, it's here.
The Leopard Rhoads that I bought from the zero feedback/first time seller.

First of all, I was absolutely HORRIFIED when I went to pick it up at the post office and the lady comes out with a case held together by three pieces of duct tape.

DUCT TAPE!!!!!

NO BOX!!!

I almost passed out.
All the way to the car I just kept repeating... "Please let it be in one piece, please let it be in one piece.."

I cut the three pieces of duct tape ( ) and opened the case. (Did I mention it was just a case with three pieces of f**kin' DUCT TAPE?!?!? )
WHEW! It looks like it survived the trip in one piece.

So, I get home and take it out of the case, and, well...
The seller didn;t exactly give a very accurate description.
First of all, it was filthy.
Also, he said nothing of the neck being stripped, the rusted parts, broken Kahler, tiny bubbles in the paint, the scratchy volume pot, etc...
All he kept going on and on about was the frickin serial number being 1981! Big deal!
The problem is, I honestly think that he just doesn't know any better.
He's a nice guy and all, and loves guitars. But know nothing about them.

Anyway, I got it cleaned up and it looks pretty good now.
I just need to clean and oil the neck and fix the Kahler and she should be good to go.

Oh yeah, the neck has no binding.
I thought all Rhoads had binding. Then again, I what do I know?

And of course, here are the pix!

Anyway, that's what happens when you bid on an auction by a zero feedbacl/new seller.

Stripped neck back!!
I think if you like it , cool though....
Is the fretboard Ebony?
No bindings maybe because it was a custom order one.
And what year is it?
It looks killer by the way!
Congrats!

The stripped neck bothered me at first.
But, it's kinda growing on me.

Cool guitar. I've had assholes pull that no box thing on me. God, what a joke. Thankfully I have only had one person do that to me. Oddly enough, it was my first USA Jackson too. Thankfully those RR cases are TANKS.

Very cool - looks like you need a Budman pickup ring if you're going to keep that EMG in there.

Looks cool, but I agree - the stripped neck should have been disclosed.

Hopefully there will be no more surprises with any of your new purchases...

If you didn't pay too much, I'd say awesome catch. Love the finish.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Agreed if you got it at a reasonable price I say "YAY"
big thumbs up , love the finish.
I too have had nightmares with zero feedback sellers, never again.
Congrats I hope the Kahler is not beyond repair.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Again, I think this guy just didn't know any better.
This is probably the only RR he has ever seen closeup.
He probably thinks that's how they all are. Oh well...

I feel confident that the next one is coming from a reliable seller.

Looks pretty good to me, except I don't like Kahlers. Was the neck stripped by someone after it was bought or does it appear factory? The pic makes the transition from body paint to neck appear well done.
