San Dimas or Ontario???

Hey all, I have learned alot about these fine instruments since i have joined here. The thread in the ebay section got me to thinking that guitars produced in late '86 through '87 there really was no standard way of producing them. This is my Soloist Custom the log book says produced in April of '87 (j2976). take a look, see what you think. could be a San Dimas.... Scott

April of '87 would definitely be Ontario.

While some of the parts and/or assembly methods bled inconsistently between the San Dimas and Ontario switch, that date you gave would definitely be an Ontario guitar.

how do i get the pictures to show? i know for sure it is made in ontario . i just find the debate about where was mine made, and San Dimas is better than Ontario kinda funny. There is no standard. i would not trade this guitar for anything it is my main player. the mojo is just right.

Yes, the San Dimas versus Ontario is rather silly. However, there are certain specs you wont find on your typical Ontario you will find on your trypical San Dimas. This is where the attraction is for me. In the specs.

Honestly though, consistently from guitar to guitar, all the ones I've ended up keeping were Custom Shop Ontario guitars, all from their sweet years, which are pretty predictable, IMO.

And there would be two smoking guitars next to each other.... I'm sure you'd grab your SD, and I'd grab my Ontario. Mainly cause we like the features from that particular era [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Jim, when you say its in the specs what do you mean? things like binding over the fret ends, 3 piece neck (mine has the scarf joint) later Scott
