Yeah, call me what you want, but I need to learn and what better way, than one that was snapped off! Or should I have waited until someone else said it, or PMed him about it

Thanks. I still can't believe that they actually came through and reimbursed me for the guitar. Here's the position they were in: we watched their baggage handlers and/or agents of their company throw the case twice; once behind the counter and once on the tarmac when they were loading it into the plane. And the most important thing is that the skycaps did NOT ask me to sign a "damage waiver" which they were supposed to do. See, as I understand, whenever you check a fragile, expensive piece of luggage, they're supposed to have you sign this waiver that releases the airline of any damage liability. Of the many times I've checked one of my guits, they've never had me sign this waiver. Bet they will in the future.
So, if this would have gone to litigation, I might have had a fairly strong case. I fully intended to file a case against them but once this guy took it seriously, I never had to even mention that I would pursue it that far.

Hey Ron had that Soloist with 25 holes in it (do you still have it?). Maybe you can try to refinish that for him.

Glad it worked out for you in the end..well worth your time and effort persisting with it ..I think half the time when they reject things they just hope people will scuttle away (and I am sure a majority of people do ) And great that you actually found someone who gave a crap

Way to go Tom. It's great that they gave you the guitar as well. Even if it's toast, the parts alone are worth it.

That break at the nut is a pretty tricky repair, because it is extremely difficult to clamp it at the proper angle. I have a Charvel Model 5 that I was really attatched to break at the truss rod access route. Several people have looked at it and said there is nothing I could do. The one person I got to take a shot at it fixed it, but it just broke again within a month. I've never taken it to someone of the caliber of the guys over at GMW, so they may be able to do something. I never went that far with mine, because even though it was pretty dear to me (my second Charvel/Jackson ever, and I put a black sparkle paintjob on it with the help of a friend), I was able to replace it for cheap.
