I much prefer the heavier kahler springs to the light thats for sure.. kahlered guitars with the light springs almost warble brad gillis style when youre playing agressively...
Over the last day or two I pulled out all my string throughs to compare tone, acoustic properties, sustain, bla bla bla...between them...
        years ranging from '83-86.
they were all over the place... some are very quiet acoustically, a couple are very loud unplugged and that translates through the amp , some are much heavier than others, bassy or very bright.
With the exception of 2 '85s having j80C and J50N pups, all have duncan distortions bridge and jazz in the neck..
All have the original 1st production s/t bridge with the exception of my checkered tele which has the later offering.
One thing is for sure when bending notes I'll take a s/t over my floyded jacksons/charvels any day...much more forgiving !
I've been playing one of my '84 rhoads customs with factory floyd for about a month now. I love its neck and tone.
I switched this morning back to my house player '84 s/t custom and wholly shit what a difference in all departments .
