it's 7/8 the body of a regular RR
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, that is what everybody is saying, but I'm afraid that is a MYTH. If you just look at the XTRR, it's pretty evident that the body proportions are different.
To prove my point, I did a little test in Photoshop:
1) Took the picture of the RR1 off the Jackson website
2) Pasted the pic of JoelD's XTRR on top of it
3) Rotated and scaled the XTRR to match the fretboard width and scale length of the RR1
Here is what I ended up with:
The white outline is traced along the edge of the XTRR. As you can see, it's just the upper wing that has any noticable difference in length.
So - in conclusion - the XTRR body is not 7/8 of a normal RR one. They just made the upper fin shorter.
I don't agree with the comparison, something would definitely be wacked there. I'll see if I can get a few pics up with 2 actual RR's side by side with an XTRR. Later tonight perhaps.
bane, you just laid out one heck of a design for a new Rhoads!
Dusty Red Ghost Snakeskin with white bevels in XTRR measures on a full size Rhoads body, reverse headstock. Now, remove the pickguard, make sure it's an OFR and unfinished oiled neck.
Sunbane, Joel recently did a true dimensional comparison. I like your photoshop attempt - an "A" for effort - but I'm afraid you're not completely accurate. See:

Not as cool-looking as your's, but it has the real measurements.
