  • Original San Dimas tuners???

    Hi!

I bought black San Dimas RR (RR0331) from one friendly seller who told that all parts are originals. I saw that there was "Gotoh (or Goton)" text at the golden tuners!? He told me that these tuners was originals from San Dimas factory. Does anybody know that could it be possible?

Thanks in advance for you answers!!!

    Best regards,
    Tommi from Finland

In all of the San Dimas guitars I've seen and owned, none had logoed tuners with the exception of the late 1986 made ones. They have "Jackson" stamped onto them. But those SD tuners have the ring straight down, not at an angle like the late '86 and onward kinds.

Jim, what's the serial on your Soloist? I have J2190 with those same Jackson logoed tuners.

              Re: Original San Dimas tuners???

Hey! My guitar is serial number J2217. I messed up, the completion on mine (from work order #) was quoted as being May 26,1986 (not March). I always get them months messed up.

PS- Our numbers are pretty damn close. They must have been in the same or close to the same batch huh? Any special features on yours? Only noteworthy Items on mine are a Floyd with Kahler locknut and a 5 way switch. How is the binding on yours? Do you have nibs by the frets?

The Jackson SD neck I sold to Jamie had those tuners on them too. Very cool and transitional for sure.

Tommi, you need a server, preferably at your ISPs location where you upload (FTP) the pictures to and then you make a post here with a http:// link to that picture. Almost everyone with a internet subscription has got access to such a server (it's your homepage).

If you don't know what the f... i'm talking about, you could email the photos to me and i will make them available for us to see. I will "host" them. Email is in my profile - remember to delete the spam thing.

I have those same Jackson-logo "right angle" tuners on my June '86 bolt-on:

However my May '86 built bolt-on custom has the non-logo right-angle tuners!!
