Re: Oh father, I confess, I have sinned!!!...

The Fred actually isn't Joe's signature pickup. They made that pickup to bump up the PAF Pro's midrange, but it's got unusual overtones and harmonics, and Joe was one of the first players of that pickup to discover and exploit those qualities of it. He does basically use that as his main bridge pup, but it's not a signature model.

Re: Oh father, I confess, I have sinned!!!...

I was really close buying a 7VBL or whatever its called.. basically the 7VWH but blue w/blue vine inlays.. played great and sounded pretty damn good too. I still might pick one up sometime, but I'm still just sitting on my cash, hoping something perfect will come up one of these days lol.. Either way Rodrigo, Ibanez make good guitars.. seems some people have had quality problems with them, so that could be a put off, but the more recent ones seem to be doing well. Jacksons are better imo, but that wouldn't ever stop me from buying an Ibanez that I like.

yeah dude I noticed I saw them on ebay for like $1200 and was like wtf?? Cuz they used to go for like $1700.. so I checked around and saw them on sale for $999 Might end up picking one up soon hehe..

Do you know why its so cheap? My only guess is that it didn't sell like they planned it would.. the VWH is still at $1800.. $800 more for white, thats weird lol.

They are trying to move the normal stock with Lo Pro Edges because the new ones with the new trems are coming in.

The 7DBKs are about 700 bucks as well at MF.

joe satriani originally used the 540 p (power) series, he later went to the 540 r (radius) which his sig model is based on...d.m.

It's difficult for me to properly evaluate newer Ibanez guitars, including the Jems, because I only ever see them in Guitar Center, where the guitars are not even remotely setup right (high action, frets not polished, etc.).

I've played early Jems that rocked hard--wouldn't mind getting one except for the fruity color schemes.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Xeno......what's your deal man? I NEVER said that Vai's or Satriani's guitars were exactly the same as the store bought models. Hence the wording "for the most part Vai and Satch play the same guitars you can buy in the store. With the exception of Vai having a sustainer in a few of his guitars and a piezo in another. Vai also prefers rosewood fretboards on his VWH's. The ones sold in stores come with Ebony."

The fact of the matter is that both Vai, Satriani and hundreds of other artists have several guitars that are exactly as you would buy them off the shelves. Does this mean that they don't have special custom shop axes, or axes with that extra little TLC shown them by the luthiers? NO . I know for a fact that Vai was just recently sent a stock Jem7VWH just like you would get of the shelves, his website even says this was the case. I was trying to clarify Jacksonfreaks post where he said that Vai and Satch play the same models as in the stores. Again, that's why I talked about the extra features on SOME OF Vai's guitars in my post, such as the sustainer, piezo, etc, etc.

                  Relax!

Xeno is right, and it's what I pointed out way up above.

Geez, when it comes to Jackson, a few MINOR ( ) details like a different knob configuration and different fretboard material are enough to differenciate between standard production and a custom guitar, but not so with Ibanez?

And Vai's guitar was built before the production run? Oh yeah, it's just like the standard production ones. Gimme a F'n break.

If you want a guitar like his, you need to go through the custom shop, where his guitar was made. It isn't a standard production guitar, regardless of what BS you spew Word.

Wasn't his the prototype for the line or some crap like that? Oh yea, a prototype is a production guitar, but guess you wouldn't know the difference anyways.
