Okay, so we've determined that my Jackson with San Dimas plate Serial No. 3371 was Ontario made with a leftover plate. Thanks for all the assistance with that.
Here's my next newbie question: What's the differences between the two, aside from the aura/cachet of the San Dimas factory?
I mean, when they moved to the Ontario facility and started production -- and brought along all those leftover plates -- did they significantly change anything about the guitars? For example, did the necks get thinner? Fatter? Did the radius change? Did they switch to another make of pickup? Did they get rid of all the San Dimas craftsmen and hire new, inexperienced folks in Ontario?
I'm just curious. I love my No. 3371, wherever it was made. But has anyone ever played an actual San Dimas and an early Ontario back to back? What's the difference?
If this has already been discussed in another thread somewhere sometime, I'm sorry for bringing it up again.
Thanks much!
