San Dimas recessed Floyd?

Ok, did they do recessed Floyds on Jacksons in San Dimas, or did that not come till after the move to Ontario? I thought it was after that, when Vai did his thing with the Green Meanie.

I have a 12xx Strathead Jackson floyd- non recessed. That should be right before the move...

My 10xx San dimas is a top mount. I have an Ontario 33xx which is also top mount. I don't remember if the recessed mount was an option when I ordered them.

I haven't seen any recessed Floyds from the San Dimas era, either Jackson or Charvel. It seems to me that started around 87?

newc, i think we can honestly credit vai with the invention of the recess...he carved 6 grooves into the top of the green meanie to allow the fine tuners to go further for more pull-up...i've got a guitar player mag from 86 where he talks about it...never heard of anyone doing that before him...d.m.

My J0806 soloist came with a floyd and it is not recessed.

My Soloist (J2217) which is the very end if not amoung the last of San Dimas era has a non-recessed Floyd.
