they're all different...like any custom ordered guitar you get what you ask for...hence, mine is very thin and flat (almost like an ibanez, got lucky she's a parts mutt) while i've heard of others that are fat like fenders...pretty hard to come by but also worth waiting for the one that "speaks" to you...d.m.

my is a replacement neck woodburn logo. its real thin & almost the same as my charvel strat headstock neck. mine is also 1 5/8- 2 1/8" which is cool because its OLD charvel sized but SUX because it doesnt fit any standard bodies.

One that I have is a flat neck wide at the nut. I also have a parts mut with a 1 5/8 neck. Both are excellent necks.

I "RARELY" hear or see them. If that Blood strathead Jackson wasnt so ugly I would bid. I know its not U.S. but still rare

i don't think it's ugly, but at 1150 i do...questionable history, recesses in the crackle paint?...i've owned 4 jacksons with crackle paint through the years and they were all smooth, no burned in feel...very cool looking guitar but...hmmm....d.m.

                Re: Jackson Strathead

Well, mine is great. I can say it's different than a typical SD profile bolt-on. My Stathead is a dinky, and it was made in 89. I own about a dozen Jacksons, most of them are customs, and without a doubt, it's one of my top 3 guitars.

As for the skull crakle on ebay. I'm just concerned about the plate... the seller bought it at a pawn shop, and he described it as looking like it had been filed down and new numbers stamped on it.

As for legitimacy, there's a bunch of questions and issues that arise, and I can't tell if it's a USA or Import, but I'm fairly certain it's a real jackson. I'm positive I've seen that guitar a long time ago, but I can't remember any specifics. If I had money to throw away/gamble with, I'd pay $800 shipped for the guitar, but that's tops.

lol...xeno you've gone up 300 since we last talked...don't feel bad, so have i, 800 isn't unreasonable but i still say that over a grand is unreasonable for it...d.m.

Hmm $800 for that or $800 for a gmw Strathead replica? What would you do...

well, i've talked with the fellow and he seems to think it's worth over a grand...so the gmw would be a better bet...d.m.

                        Re: Jackson Strathead

i dont think that crakle skull is worth $1000 & i think $800 is still alittle high for that. the neck plate does not say san dimas or ontario, it just says JACKSON, which is an import plate to the best of my knowledge. also the pickup route is for a larger covered pickup. the lack of any MADE IN USA or a USA type plate leads me to think its an import or a MUTT. it would have been nice if the seller had some pics of the heal & neck pocket of that guitar that may have cleared up some of the confusion.

                              Re: Jackson Strathead

I have a Jackson Strathead. It's maple-one piece, no finish, 1-5/8 nut & 2-1/4heel. It has a burn logo on the heel of the neck. And 0027 is stamped into the wood underneath the 3rd tuner. I got it off of ebay about a year ago. It plays great. I finally have a San Dimas to compare it to. I recently purchased Tim Rose's Allan Holdsworth Charvel to compare it to. They are about the same. It's not to thin and sounds good.
