• 1987 Jackson #3510 Restoration Complete!!

     Original Thread

The guitar was really worked over by its previous owner. Somebody ripped out the original pups and installed EMG Selects

I got some pickup rings from Budman for the restoration, Jim Shine provided me all new electronic components for it, and lets see, Sully's advice on buffing out a body, WarriorX7's advice on the neck, Chuck Edgerly's advice on the Kahler all helped me to restore it.

This is the first time I have restored a guitar in any real capacity and the first time I did my own electronic work from start to finish.

I rebuilt the Kahler with the kits from Allparts pretty much from the ground up.

It's not perfect by any means, but it sounds awesome and plays incredibly well. I installed a Duncan Custom in the Bridge and a Duncan Jazz in the neck.

Here are a few new pics after the restoration.

Thanks Chuck....this was the first wiring job I've done from start to finish and I'm really happy how it came out.

It doesn't hurt that I used to be an electrician lol but I just used the same cabeling principles but on a much smaller scale

I have less than $700 in it total and I couldn't be more happy about it. The matching headstock is unique and there aren't that many Custom Shop Dinky's runnin round w/matching headstocks.

I took one but it's not the greatest. I didn't have any natural light and we were in the kitchen.

I don't know what was on the neck to be honest....it was filthy when I got it (the poor thing) and I think the previous owner used it as a cheese grater...cause the strings were 1/4" off the fretboard!!

Mark....I have been banned from doing laundry...something about colors and whites....I dunno
