• The perfect stage guitar?

hey guys,
I'm getting another USA soon and was feeling dead set on a SL2H-MAH, but recently I started thinking if I should try one of the pointy shapes for a better "stage presence effect"...
So my question is, what do you feel is the ultimate stage guitar of all the USA Select models currently available?
Also I'm pretty short, only 174 cm..think that's like 5'5" or something so I guess it leaves a King V out of the question
I'm seriously thinking about the WR-1 though.
(And yes I know it all comes down to what sound etc. I like, but I wanted to hear your opinion anyway )

thanks! - Rune.

Get a Rhoads. I'm a short guy, too (5'7"), and it looks fine on me. The King V and Warrior both looked like the guitar was wearing me. The Kelly is a good choice, too, but I personally find the body a bit combersome to play.

The Warrior is not as big in person as it looks in pictures. I was quitae surprised at how small the body was when I received my WR1. But, I usually use my RR's when I play out. I dig V's the most. The KV2 is really not that big either.

the king V isn't really that big. i play a hamer vector on stage and that makes the king V look like an anorexic model!! i'm 5'10 and i think that a V should be big. i actually bought the hamer over a king V because it looked better on me (i stood in front of a mirror at the shop. the sales guys thought i was being corny, but hey, why buy a stage guitar if you aren't going to like how it looks on you?).
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

i think the rhoads looks great on me. that makes me sound like a women, well the soloist makes my butt look big. lol. Im about 5 ft 10-11 but not very broad shouldered. I think the rhoads looks awesome. i also dont think KVs are that big. I had a KV3 and thought it was pretty small. I think soloists are pretty universal. Unless you like 6 ft 5 then it might look a little goofey. didnt Jackson used to make an extreme rhoads that was smaller and 24 frets? maybe 22 frets but i remember that the wing wasnt as big as normal rhoads guitars.

Well, I'm also all of 150 lbs, so lots of stuff looks big on me...

The top horn on my Rhoads sticks waaaaaay out past my right arm, but it still looks fine because the bottom horn is reall short, keeping the guitar narrow. Put on the King V, and it looks huge.

I know they've got a 24 fret Rhoads coming out in the import line.

Re: The perfect stage guitar?

The Warrior and King V look wider in pics than in person. A Standard KV is really small on me (6'3" with a 21" shoulder span) but Big Red is definitely Just My Size

Soloists and Dinkys look small on me, but Strats feel big on me

Kellys/Explorers are about the same size, and they look fine. Small people might seem smaller with one.

go strap a king V on and see how it looks. i always thought it would be big also, but it even felt small.

but back to your original thing, yeah V's etc. make great stage guitars. i mostly play strat shapes, but do use the V and a jackson firebird on stage. man when i put those on i feel more electric than i do playing my strat style guitars.

I've played King V's, and they may not feel big to me, but when I stand in front of a mirror, I feel small.

Re: The perfect stage guitar?

I thought KVs seemed small because where the neck meets the body is pretty narrow. only the wings tip to tip seems like the only place it would look "big". it seems to me KVs dont have much to the body until you get past the tremolo. anyone else remember the rhoads extreme? i sweat it was a USA with like reverse headstock and shorter top horn. i think they discontinued it because it didnt seem like many people bought it. ive never seen a kelley in person. seems they would be smaller guitars. Dave Mustaine seems like a short guy, isnt he? He doesnt look goofey playing a KV. at least he looks kind of short on tv. also it depends what angle you look at a V guitar. if you look at it from and angle looking headstock down it doesnt look too big. but if you look at it with the wings faing you it looks a lot bigger. I think my Y2KV looks about perfect on me. not too big but doesnt make me look out of preportion to the guitar.

I love my KV1 and Y2KV.
They look big but when you hold it, not much especially KV.
They look killer in person.
I would suggest to go with KV2T or KV2.

I like the looks of the RR best, but even if it had 24 frets the access to them sucks. I would choose the Warrior or just a Soloist in a bright color, like neon pink! That will get their attention

Dave Mustaine is about 6'1", not a short guy at all. He looks shorter because he has fairly broad shoulders. I do know that I picked up a Y2KV once (I'm 5'7" with narrow sholders) and I felt like I was a kid holding my father's guitar. Just look how big a Soloist looks on me.
