Re: First King Vs?

My guess is 83 or 84. Robbin and Dave Linsk got theirs in like 82/83 IIRC, but beyond those two I dont know when anyone else would have ordered one or when Jackson would have otherwise made one.

Re: First King Vs?

Look at the J1000 log at jacksonmuseum.com. I don't count
the double RRs as KVs myself. I just received the fifth
KV yesterday which is the first black one ever built. Thanks Jim!!! I'm gonna upload some info about the first KVs at
http://ca.regionline.fi/unitar/guitarpalace later. BTW almost half of the pre J1000 KVs are red.
And to finally answer your question the first official KV was logged 2-5-85.

Double Rhoadses are King Vs. They got the name "King V" after Robbin "King" Crosby (as in "King Size"). The only one that I'm aware of that can't be called a King V is Dave Link's, in which case it'd be an Overkill V

Unless Dave's was NOT the first pre-Crosby Double Rhoads?

Someone should really tell this guy to do his homework: Umm, yeah.. 1981, of course... why wouldn't it be?

Re: First King Vs?

I consider the first King V's the ones officially logged as King V's. Jani's is the 5th. Very cool guitar Jani. It was a pleasure owning it for a little while.

Re: First King Vs?

Robbin actually received the first black King V. He ordered 3 at the same time, one black, one red, and one white. He took delivery of the black one first, and it had the Rhoads control cavity and plate, front mounted, as Robbin had spec'd out a double Rhoads. He thought that the Rhoads cavity cover was 'flimsy' (his word) and made sure that the other two were back routed. I am still dubious of the story that Dave Linsk ordered his first and that is where Robbin got the idea, just smells like bs to me.

Re: First King Vs?

Robbin received the first black double rhoads. My opinion still is that if they didn't call (or log) them as King Vs then they were not King Vs. And of course the body shape is not a match. We don't call RRs early XTRRs.

But of course I say that just because I own J0506 so please ignore me.
