• Little help with this Custom Kelly

hey guys, I'm just wondering something about this Kelly that I may order.

Will the Diamond plate top cause excess noise? Is that why there are EMG's in that bad boy?

Just wondering! I want to take the plunge and get rid of my Les Paul and get something a little more suiting!

Dude, if a Les Paul doesn't go with anything and everything, nothing does.

Anyhoo, I don't see how the plate could cause excess noise. Might dull the wood tone a bit, so that passive pickups which rely more heavily on the wood sound weak, but that's all I can think of.

I don't see how it could cause excess noise if the plate is grounded correctly. Older Stratocasters used to have a plate under the pickguard that was used to reduce noise in single-coil pickups.

It's got EMGs, so it won't need to be grounded anyway.

I always assumed, like an idiot, that the diamond plate top was plastic. What is it, aluminum?
