about to order my first USA Jackson, what finish ?

Next week I'll be ordering my first US made Jackson, needless to say I'm very excited about it.

Its gonna be a SL2HT as I already have a Floyd Rose equipped Jackson Performer.
I´ve narrowed it down to these two finishes: Transparent Cobalt Blue (TSCB) and Snakeskin graphic.
I love both can't really decide which one I like better, which one would you pick and why?

How about one of SL2HT Chroline limited guitars?
I saw 2 members were selling this week.
Cool part is these have old finished neck(back) and Gold parts.
Also EMGs.
If I were to buy a SL2HT, I would go with one of these..
Just my opinon though.

That's a totally personal decision - one man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say.
Some say Snakeskin is just "too 80's", while some (like me) think Jackson's choice of flametops on their USA line is the weakest of any guitar maker. I have not seen many (if one at all) USA Select Jackson flametop anything that I'd buy, because the flame is too weak.
On the other hand, I'm not a Snakeskin guy, either [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I agree with Newc on the Flametops: the quilts on the archtops are generally OK and likewise the tops on the PC1s, but the flames on the soloists generally seem pretty poor (or variable at best) to my eyes.

Mind you, I prefer quilts anyway and chrome hardware doesn't do much to set those guitars off.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Trans Cobalt Blue was discontinued as of Jan 1st. Look in the 2005 price list for currently available finishes:

I love snakeskin, but am NOT a big fan of the current grey & black one. Green, brown, or copperhead is much better, IMHO, but you'd have go full custom for that.

And I totally disagree with the guys above about flametops. Although I admit to seeing a few ones with poor figuring, the vast majority have been killer cool. And some of the flametops folks might consider "poor" is actually just bad photography. It can be hard to capture them well in a pic, even with the best 5A figuring.

I like snakeskin as well, but not the gray and black.
someone on this board has a green snakeskin dinky with gold
hardware (you bought it from a guy in Marblehead ma off of
EBay) that looks amazing. Please post a pic so Tomario can
see it!

All about personal preference my friend. Be advised oof course that with certain graphics, that YOU won't age well with them.
Other than that its all about what you like!

I think snakesskin is cool to look at but it would get old quick IMHO. If you are into the transfinshes, I would got for one of them (I personally wuld go for a classic graphic like, HRF Bloodspatter bullseye etc., but that is me).

I'm with Lordofgain. Try to pick the one you anticipate liking for the long haul. For an old guy like me, that would be a flametop over a snakeskin graphic. I'd take a good look at the new/used Chlorines now available in the Classifieds. Appears to be a match made in heaven for you, based on what you're planning to get.
